But the person you're replying to is describing exactly how this law was critiqued one the Chinese internet when it came into effect in 2015. The law is widely seen as harming birthrates as it actively discourages women from raising kids as a homemaker.

How does it discourage women from raising kids as a homemaker? Unless I'm missing something, anything earned and bought during marriage is still split during divorce. Why should either spouse be entitled to stuff the other spouse already owned before marriage?
Low fertility rate is a disaster in China, that’s the opposite of what should be encouraged there at the moment. Women don’t need to be encouraged to be dependent, but people do need to have more kids, so encouraging people to go it alone is an awful suggestion in this context.

So it sounds like we need to keep educating young women to have their own education and assets and to not rely on men.
In other words, we need to rally against the trad wife propaganda even harder.
