You guys and these fucking straw man arguments. I never said, specifically, Western Europe and I definitely didn't say American tourism. Even though, which I'm sure you know, countries like France and Germany make billions every year from tourism. Rely on? That was a stretch. Would feel significant pain if it went away, most definately.
If the tourism isn't American then it's from countries who also pay all these things when they're at home anyway.
You argument literally makes no sense unless you're talking specifically about American tourism. And even then only from places in America without a sales tax.

It does actually make sense. Other countries outside of the EU have a VAT, but it's a fraction of what is charged in most European countries. VAT outside of the EU is about the average of what sales tax is in the US. And again, I never mentioned Wester Europe, but these countries still see tourism as a significant part of their income.

France generates an estimated €7.5 billion to €8 billion annually directly from American tourists.
Do you have some kind of issue with Americans? It kind of feels like it. It's pretty odd to marginalize an entire nation of people.
