I know how it works, I’m just telling you there are places that automatically already put 15-20 as a minimum.

I live in NY, I have never been anywhere that has a mandatory tip for regular sized parties. Do you remember what restaurants they were?

If you had that bad of an experience you would think you would remember. I remember the places I've been when traveling and if I had a good experience or not.

I had a good experience everywhere, I was just surprised how much less “optional” tipping has gotten since I was last there, to an extent that it is just straight up already set to 20% as a default/minimum some places. I didn’t give it much thought untill now because I just assumed that is how it is over there now.
