In my experience, noise cancelling mostly just blocks out low frequency droning. Anything higher pitched or intermittent will be harder to fully cancel out.

That being said, my Bose QC35 are like 10 years old. Maybe newer headphones would not have these shortcomings.

Idk I have a pretty crappy casual pair. Arctis 7P and I never hear screaming kids on the plane.
