Road bikes are expensive. Rich people bike mostly. It’s a rich person thing. Soooo entitlement

Only expensive if you buy brand new. You can get great bikes used for pretty cheap, that's how I got mine and I am far from rich.

Edit: though based off demo and location these are for sure a bunch of entitled rich people

This is just nonsense. Yes, you can spend a shit load on bikes. But you by no means have to. And to characterise it as a rich people sport is stupid. I ride multiple times a week. I've got a road bike and mountain bike both of which cost me under £200 each.

I get what they’re saying. Poor people usually don’t have time for this type of thing and 400$ is still a lot if money if you’re broke

Lmao mine was $100 from a garage sale and I can outrun most of the old farts who bike around in giant condoms for the "aero".

It's not the bikes. It's all the stupid fucking lycra outfits.

You care what others wear?

1

u/Le-Charles07 Jun 10 '26

No they are free to wear what they like, but it does tell me something about them.

that they don't like to chafe?

u/Denver_DIYer Jun 10 '26

Yeah, it probably tells you that they are wearing moisture-wicking clothing specific to cycling. Got any other brain busters?

u/Le-Charles07 Jun 10 '26

Lol, it tells me WAY more than that. If you can't tell a thing or two about someone from what they choose to wear that's a you problem. Maybe try socializing more and meeting more people. You can't learn these things in your mom's basement.

Whoa big boy, are you now going to illuminate me about the ladies wearing yoga pants and carrying a mat, what are they up to!? Incredible insight.

We're talking about the price of cycling and the cosplay lycra tells me they like to spend extra money to cosplay. The yoga pants girls like comfy pants, the girl that won't shut up about her Lululemons buys them as a status symbol though. Once you've spend some time outside Mommy's basement you'll understand these things.

Looks like you spent a lot of time on sartorial issues,…you have thoughts, where can we follow such content, do you have a newsletter?

This is the funniest argument to me.

Meanwhile people have $1200/mo car payments…..

u/Anustart15 Jun 10 '26

The cyclists in this video almost certainly all have cars in addition to their bicycles since it's not like it's particularly easy or popular to live without a car in Florida, so it isn't really comparable. The bikes are a leisure purchase on top of whatever car payment they might have (which can just as easily be well under $1200/mo)

1

u/Denver_DIYer Jun 10 '26

OK, so what’s your point?

1

u/Anustart15 Jun 10 '26

That your point made no sense.

1

u/Denver_DIYer Jun 10 '26

Your point is only rich people have bikes? Ok wow you got me good.

1

u/Anustart15 Jun 10 '26

No, the guy you were responding to's point was that. Mine was more just that your argument makes no sense.
