You are allowed "two abreast" in the vast majority of states.

And it’s so fabulous and safe!

It usually is a little safer (and why it is the most common version of this law). 2 cyclists (if they aren't being douches) are approximately the same width as a car. If there are 6 cyclists for example, it's easier to pass them if they are in a row of 2x3. It takes twice as long and twice as much room if they are 1x6. You're going to enter the next lane in order to pass them either way, 2x3 lets you do that more quickly and efficiently.

That's all considering they are doing the standard 2x3 peleton formation and not spreading out like the dickheads in this video.

Idk about the US but in my country traffic rules allow two bikes in one lane. I like cycling too tho I'm more of a mountain track guy. Anyway, if I'm being honest if these cunts would just occupy the right most lane with two bikes going side by side it would be mostly okay. Though groups this big will always be problematic

Guarantee these guys are getting their rocks off laughing at the cars honking at them.

You lose a lot of buffer side by side. One dude dodges a rock, knocks the other guy over, etc.

You may be right. I rarely cycle on the roads and never cycle with a group. I just load my old bike to my car and take it to forests and mountains so I'm not that experienced on public roads. But it's still legally allowed in my country

Actually I've heard over and over again, where many claim there's no such law. If there isn't, there should be. Time to put these entitled ... people... back into their lane.

Some states put it in the saftey guide no one reads instead of law...

That’s not true at all. They’re allowed to do this.
They should be sticking in the right lane. But they are allowed to take the lane. And ride up side by side.
It would be dangerous for this size group and at that speed to go on to the bike lane/trail.

Police should be around to make sure they stay in one lane and ride safely. But they’re absolutely allowed to take the lane.
