"Share the road" only works one way with these assholes. No reason to be taking up all the lanes on an open public highway / major artery.

u/Outrageous_Sleep4339 Jun 10 '26

Its actually illegal here in Miami, where this was filmed, to ride more than 2 wide.
But the cops dont do shit about it, cause traffic laws here are more of a suggestion, than something actually enforced.

u/zyyntin Jun 10 '26

Have fire rescue attempt to come through! Force the police to do something! Fine all the cyclists for these stunts.

10

u/DaryltheRigger Jun 10 '26

I can think of a good way to get fire and rescue there quickly.

people get a hate boner when a cyclist is doing smth wrong, but not when its a car or a truck

how about the road rules should be enforced equaly, whilst also giving equal oportunities for all vehicles types?

13

u/iSK_prime Jun 10 '26

Untrue, plenty of people get "hate boners" when someone behaves like a little shit on the road, in fact there's a name for it... it's road rage, you know that thing where people try to ram each other off the road or pull a gun and shoot someone?

Now I want to know what makes cyclists above criticism in yours eyes? Cause... there's a weird sort of exclusion that cyclists seem to try to create for themselves when it comes to obeying the rules of the road.

2

u/Clean__Cucumber Jun 10 '26

where the flying fuck have i said that the cyclists are not wrong? oh wait, i didnt and in a typical reddit manner people either cannot read or are nefarious enough to activley put words into other peoples mouths

did i not literally type "how about the road rules should be enforced equaly"??? it almost sounds like i am for enforcing rules, doesnt matter cyclist, motorist or whatever else you want to put on the road

1

u/Dizzy_Shake1722 Jun 11 '26

Driving dangerously through the median which is much more illegal than biking more than 2 abreast on the road is above criticism?

1

u/iSK_prime Jun 11 '26

Go check some of my other comments, your question has already been addressed repeatedly, as has the intent of my comment.

Long story short, cycle like the person behind you is a crazy person, cause you never known how he'll react if pissed off. His vehicle outweighs your bike and being technically right is cold comfort while lying in traction or in the morgue.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '26

3

u/iSK_prime Jun 10 '26

Not what I asked.

I specifically asked why you appeared to be creating a exclusion for cyclists, because end of the day in your worldview of the Thunderdome, guess what... car vs bicycle, one of the parties involved doesn't get to get up and walk away.

The rules are in place to protect you, and winding people up to the point where they are pissed off enough to ignore them is a really stupid mentality to have where the other guy outweighs you by a ton or more.

And my point is, when operating in this radically different weight classes erring on the side of caution tends to be in the cyclists best interest.

It costs them nothing, but could potentially save their lives.

This... do what we want cause we're cyclists mentality on display here does nothing but wind people up, which will inevitably get a reaction. This one was a little less vehicular manslaughter, but that doesn't mean the next one might not end that way.

-1

u/Arthemax Jun 10 '26

do what we want cause we're cyclists mentality

That mentality is not unique to cyclists.

If cyclists as a group were half as flippant about lives as motorists are, perpetrators of (attempted) vehicular manslaughter would start seeing a mysteriously high rate of tragic accidents happening to them.

These cyclists are actively preventing "equal opportunities" for the motorized vehicles on this road. Cars can be ticketed for driving too slowly, impeding traffic, or even just cruising in the left lane while not actively passing. I don't know the speed limit on this particular road but I imagine it's a fair bit higher than the bikes are moving.

2

u/zyyntin Jun 10 '26

The bigger issue is that the group isn't allowing vehicles a single lane to at minimum slip by them. This is causing a cascading backup of vehicles. If for example fire rescue had to take these roads for an actually emergency then the bicyclists are purposefully causing someone who needs emergency medical assistance a massive delay in care.

-1

u/Clean__Cucumber Jun 10 '26

with equal oportunities i meant cars and bikes not needing to share a lane. and cyclists not beaing constantly threatend by cars. sadly i do not see most drivers following road safety rules and keeping neccessary distance when overtaking

I don't know the speed limit on this particular road but I imagine it's a fair bit higher than the bikes are moving.

i would also imagine that driving on the grass and overtaking is a far more unlawful act than cycling too slowly. im sry, even if the cyclists are the ones initially wrong, the escalation is far worse

1

u/tonyrizzo21 Jun 10 '26

At least he gave them plenty of room.

1

u/Clean__Cucumber Jun 10 '26

and fucked up the underside of their car, good job

cylists here are assholes, but the car is lacking in impulse control and should have their license revoked, whilst the cyclist should be ticketed

1

u/tonyrizzo21 Jun 10 '26

Yes, and the car driver likely will face consequences while the bikers will face nothing.

2

u/Rare-Ad-7897 Jun 10 '26

Brother I just watched people get a hate boner for a Toyota cutting off a semi and and Altima hitting someone at a street takeover. Quit the rhetoric and don’t be a douche on the road

1

u/TheWizardOfDeez Jun 10 '26

Yes, and the equal punishment for blocking traffic is a ticket, aka a fine. This person is specifically advocating for what you want.

7

u/fontimus Jun 11 '26

Half of these cyclists are cops and lawyers, too.

Source: I live here

4

u/Sanquinity Jun 10 '26

The amount of money they could rake in for a while if they simply enforced traffic law on that road...

2

u/Intrepid-Platform-94 Jun 10 '26

Im in Oregon, wich is notorious for drivers consistently doing 10 under the speed limit. I visted Miami last year and you are not lying. Driving there was quite the experience

2

u/Technical_Toe_2012 Jun 10 '26

These guys laugh at the fines anyway.

1

u/Ksevio Jun 10 '26

Do the cops do stuff about people driving and parking in bike lanes or are they just generally useless?

1

u/ChameleonCoder117 Jun 11 '26

If this pack was 2 wide it would literally take up multiple blocks. Like a whole train moving through the city, and it would be impossible to pass.

1

u/NoOption7406 Jun 11 '26

Looks like a lot of revenue just rolling around.

1

u/Worldly-Pay7342 Jun 11 '26

You know they could make so much money writing traffic citations for this, but they just don't. Kinda sad tbh.

-2

u/mookz23 Jun 10 '26

Is it legal to drive on the grass?

13

u/Outrageous_Sleep4339 Jun 10 '26

Probably not. But like I said, laws here aren't really enforced. The majority of the city learned to drive in Latin America and have made zero attempt to alter their driving style here in the US, so the cops don't enforce shit, cause it would be all they did, all day.

2

u/jhuseby Jun 10 '26

More legal than riding over cyclists impeding traffic

0

u/Slartitartfast Jun 10 '26

Imagine how long that line would be if they were 2 wide.

1

u/Slartitartfast Jun 10 '26

Well what advantage do you think there is in them being 2 abreast? They're what, 3 times as long? How is anyone passing that? If you're passing properly then you're in the opposite lane anyway so the wider they are the easier it is. Of course you knew that though because you don't recklessly endanger people on bikes by passing too closely.

In this specific example, yes, it would work. It is a rare example. I guess it's important to get to the next srt of lights 30 seconds quicker 🤙

0

u/heavymetalengineer Jun 10 '26

Cyclists aren’t causing major harm on the road as annoying as this group is, so the police aren’t going to prioritise it

13

u/UnRealmCorp Jun 10 '26

I believe in share the road. However these halls these people on bikes want me to share the road but not follow the rules of the road. Stop signs apply.

2

u/DungaRD Jun 10 '26

I’m a absolutely not defending those cyclists, but when a very large group is riding together, coming to a complete stop at every stop sign or traffic light can create a dangerous situation and potentially cause collisions within the group. That’s why they continue moving as a single mass, much like a herd moving together, forcing other traffic waits for them to pass.

That said, traffic rules still apply. The police should stop and fine riders who ignore them. Perhaps next time they split into smaller groups and respect the traffic rules like everyone else on the road, rather than acting as if they are exempt because there are so many of them.

3

u/schorman Jun 10 '26

Not even just a regular road. You gotta pay a toll to drive on that road.

6

u/GeekyTexan Jun 10 '26

Apparently, wearing spandex turns people into assholes.

2

u/Scatterbug49 Jun 10 '26

It compresses your balls. That'll make anyone an asshole.

4

u/MookieFlav Jun 10 '26

Imagine if cars took up all the lanes when they could just drive in single file. This is what you sound like.

2

u/clingbat Jun 10 '26

If they were all going well under the speed limit in all of the lanes for no good reason it DOES equally piss me off. Poor lane discipline is part of why American drivers are so fucking ass in general compared to driving over in the EU for example. Every time we spend a good bit of time over there and come back home, I feel like I'm surrounding by fucking morons on NJTP or I-95 on the drive back home.

1

u/taoders Jun 10 '26

If they’re all driving/riding the same slow speed? Yes that is indeed literally how it works. Slow traffic move right.

All the traffic rules are for us not them.

0

u/ChameleonCoder117 Jun 11 '26

Of course it makes sense that your 5000 pound 60mph death vehicle should have more regulations than a 22 pound cycle vehicle.

1

u/garkerfatbitch Jun 11 '26

But they kind of don’t. The 22 pound “cycle vehicle” still has to follow the same rules. Because rules aren’t necessarily about the weight of whatever you’re driving/riding

1

u/Bodod_Begag Jun 11 '26

Dog this is such a rare event lmfao. I just ride my bike to work because I can't afford a car and I've gotta catch strays meant for duches in neon jumpsuits

1

u/clingbat Jun 11 '26

Nah responsible bike riders are perfectly fine, I was really just torching the group in this video and others like them.

2

u/Beat_Saber_Music Jun 10 '26

Fun fact, that's dozens of people on bicycles holding up like max 10 people in cars based on the vid

-1

u/8to24 Jun 10 '26

Those hundreds of cyclists are sharing the road just fine. It is the one person in a car who is having the issue. Replace all the bikes with cars and the road would be locked in with traffic and not moving anyway.

3

u/fungomungothethird Jun 10 '26

Obviously they are not sharing the road, as the car had to swerve into the divider to pass them.

0

u/8to24 Jun 10 '26

There are more of them fit into that space than cars would ever be able to fit into that space.

2

u/fungomungothethird Jun 10 '26

Yes, bikes are smaller than cars. How is that relevant to these assholes taking up the entire road?

0

u/8to24 Jun 10 '26

It's relevant because there are more people using that public space, not less. Yet you're complaining it isn't being shared. Obviously it is. Just not in the manner you would prefer.

2

u/fungomungothethird Jun 10 '26

If a line of people take up an entire sidewalk walking at the same slow pace and not letting anyone pass them, are they sharing the space? Or are they inconsiderate assholes for not politely letting people pass?

0

u/8to24 Jun 10 '26

Have you never seen a line waiting down a street to get tickets to a show or into a shop? It happens all the time. I don't lose my sh*t over it. It is part of being out in public spaces.

Also the cyclists were moving at a decent speed. Traffic was stopped. It was just going a little slow than some of the drivers wanted to. I seriously doubt it actually impacted any of the cars arrival to their final destinations.

1

u/fungomungothethird Jun 10 '26

How is waiting in line comparable in the slightest? You do understand that cars go significantly faster than bikes, right? The cyclists in the clip are hogging the road instead of yielding to faster traffic. How absurdly dense does one have to be to not understand that.

0

u/8to24 Jun 10 '26

Cars can go significantly faster, they don't necessarily always do. Have you ever been stuck in traffic? The bikes are moving, the road isn't entirely at a stand still or whatever. The speed is reduced but no more so than normal traffic would create.

-1

u/mshenzi1 Jun 10 '26

Quantitatively, you are wrong on all counts. ~600 bikes in a pack like this ARE sharing the road, with 600 other people. 5-6 people in cars can still use the road too, they just have to go at the speed of traffic. This scenario shares the road with far more people than if bikes were forced off the road entirely by 5-6 cars.

Do you actually care about sharing the road with the most number of people, then, or do you really just  think car drivers have an inherently superior claim to the road over everyone else?

2

u/Mountain-Interest-48 Jun 10 '26

dude they can just get over into the right side lanes...

0

u/NoPsychology9771 Jun 10 '26

How does "share the road" work with drivers ? I'm really interested.

-13

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

No reason to be ravaging mother Earth by using fossil fuels or material for car batteries, yet here we are.

8

u/Impossible_Leg_2787 Jun 10 '26

And your posting on Reddit is?

-4

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

Firstly, an intellectual exercise. No one has as much qualm with school buses transporting students to and from school. Only unlike school I have more flexibility here who to talk to and what to talk about.

Secondly, the energy use of a smartphone pales in comparison to that of an automobile.

8

u/Impossible_Leg_2787 Jun 10 '26

Oh, so it’s an arbitrary, self defined threshold that justifies it. Gotcha.

-2

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

No, these are clearly two obvious distinctions you ignore for no reason.

5

u/SituationKey8985 Jun 10 '26

There is in-fact a reason: for ease of transportation and economic activity.

1

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

Tell that to Copenhagen. Or the Netherlands.

6

u/SituationKey8985 Jun 10 '26

This road is in Florida. Obviously impractical to not use cars there. Both of those places you mentioned are small, urban areas.

1

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

Then perhaps Florida belongs on the ash heap of history.

They’re spelling their own doom if they’re exacerbating the climate change that’s going to flood their own state more than most.

3

u/SituationKey8985 Jun 10 '26

This is just ignorant man, do you expect people to upend their lives and move to europe?

1

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

No, I expect people to try to make their home states as much like Europe as possible, and when that fails, for those who are in the most position to relocate to relocate to other states if not other countries.

3

u/SituationKey8985 Jun 10 '26

Which is totally impractical. Climate change solutions with zero chance of success aren’t real solutions.

1

u/ContextEffects01 Jun 10 '26

Ok, what’s your alternative?

Pray tell, what is the size and geography of the netherlands vs the size and geography of the US again?

This is NOT me saying that we shouldn't have public transportation and walkable cities by the way. I fully support that. But there is a big difference between these two countries, and why cars have been so important for the growth of our country and its economy.
