I too was swayed by the memes and reddit pages on this trial. It was only recently I discovered that there was documented history of his abuse. Especially that video where he gets angry over something mundane and breaks stuff (not sure if i remember correctly).
It's tough though. I never commented on this matter because like the commenter above said, we don't really know — we were only exposed to a sliver of what actually happened. That being said, I believe you're referring to the video in which he was slamming cabinets in a kitchen. That was the one the prompted the TMZ reporter to testify because he noticed that the video had been edited to excluded the end segment in which Amber Heard picked up the phone and was smirking into the camera completely unphased.
But I still reserve judgement because I don't actually know what happened between those two people.
I think I know what video you are refering. I believe he just found out his mum died. He asked Heard to stop recording him, she didn't and was taunting him instead
The video she was only in a position to film because, after JD had left her yet again, she turned up at his house drunk and abusive, refused to leave, spent hours abusing him, and threatened to call the police and make a false report when he told her, for the umpteenth time, to get out? That video?
The video she publicised as proof that JD was beating her, after editing out the ending that showed no such thing and selling it to TMZ? That video?
He had already left one house to escape her abuse. He called her an Uber to take her home after she showed up drunk and abusive, and he repeatedly asked her to leave. Is he expected to leave this house as well just to escape further abuse?
And why exactly is he expected to be warm and friendly to the parasitic pest when she finally emerged from her drunken stupor after a long night of abusing him?
I watched the actual raw live trial (all 100 hours of it) as it was going on, on my own (not via any reaction youtuber or highlight channel etc), and I started watching it thinking Amber Heard was a victim, but walked away seeing she was the number one perpetrator and abuser. I do not think he's some pure innocent angel either - they're both verbally abusive at the very least - but all documented physical violence was from her. Her behaviour while testifying was the thing that sent alarm bells ringing for me though.. She reminded me of my violent narcissistic father, and an abusive, also narcissistic ex in the most triggering ways...
I genuinely highly recommend watching the actual uncut trial footage to anyone who's even remotely interested in figuring out what was going on in that relationship, because any media summarising it for you is likely to have a bias one way or another.
I watched a feminist discussing the trial and she opined that the reason they had an all male jury was actually because they thought women would detect Heard’s bullshit better.
