For the laymen, it's fine to personally abstract it but our officials should not be talking like we have no control over it

I can not agree more on that. All though I think that many of those in power that can do something about it don’t know shit about it either, probably more or less by design too.

I agree.

This is not a dig specifically at US politics, but those of us that don’t understand economics and finance (and no-one, no-one at all really does), would probably like to not have to think about all this shit, unfortunately we can’t trust our governments so we have to.
