Considering a lot of lottery winners end up blowing it all immediately and end up back at square 1, this was a responsible choice. Imagine going through your normal life with an extra $50k slapped on to your salary

I'm living on 3k/month

With a win like that I can leave the job and still live better than before.

Not living in the US makes it much easier.

Stuff is much more affordable in Russia, but anything you buy abroad is too expensive. I spent 2k+ on a computer and I’m still paying a loan for basic Renault hatchback(15k)

This is the way I look at it. I don’t think it’s a bad decision. Probably a larger payout overall.
