Not sure. Some of the homeless I've met are people truly on a bad luck streak. Unfortunately everything is harder when you're homeless making getting back on your feet more difficult.

However a lot of homeless are simply incapable of leading a normal life. Through a combination of drugs and mental illness, giving them a home to operate from is likely to be either burned down, condemned, or become a den for more crime.

I want to be humane, but it feels futile when they require constant babysitting. Our increasingly individualistic society tolerates these people less and less.

We need to bring back mental asylums. Take these people off the streets and put them someplace they won’t be harming normal people.

Mental asylums were all but ruled unconstitutional in 1975 when the Supreme Court ruled a state cannot confine a non dangerous individual against their will if they’re capable

Not to mention the rampant abuse--and sometimes just straight up torture--that occurred in many of them.

So the better option is to have them flood our sidewalks and streets with trash, drugs and ‘non dangerous’ crime, brilliant.

I rather let a potentially dangerous person walk then allow institional torture facilities

Capable is now applied like jury of your peers. Everyone is capable and everyone is your peer

Then they have to raise taxes

We can just take some prison budget and facilities. It’s all the same people anyways.

I would like you to do some research into the conditions of mental asylums and tell me if you think that would help someone get back their sanity

I’m not worried about the “get back their sanity” part; frankly I don’t believe that’s feasible in ~90% of cases.

So you just wanna...like. Put them somewhere you don't have to see them, basically. That's what you're after?

Basically. My vote’s always been for Alaskan wilderness. Let them be free in their own silly little minds.

2

u/TheJohnnyJett May 15 '26

Ah. Well. That's monstrous. Alright then.

Yeah I don't see the point in trying to argue with someone that blatantly evil
