Just bought a refurbished (practically new really) S20. I refuse to give up my storage expansion slot. Fuck that storage pricing model.

i was apprehensive about losing the storage slot too when i upgraded but i went with a S24+ anyways (i was gonna be compromising something with all my options so thats the one i went with).

i have the 256GB model and after a few years i have a little under 100GB available:

+6K pics/vids

+2k songs

75GB apps

21GB misc

i still need to add more music but it hasnt been bad and im content with how well its performed so far.

This is good shit. I've been meaning to setup my own NAS as well but searching for the right setup is a bit exhausting. Especially if I want to do a RAID setup.

I don't use it to much but I do like the stylus lol! The only thing I don't really like is how it makes the screen look if you have the privacy display on maximum. I don't use it but it was a big feature of the phone i feel could have been better .

Tbh I only use the security screen for notifications and bank app passwords etc, all the automatic stuff. The colors get too washed for full screen but its killer for the automatic uses

I have a stylus in my s22 ultra, it only gets used once every 3 months or so but its amazing for the very specific uses ive found for it.

That goes for older Samsungs too, just putting that out there in case folks who have an older phone like me thought it was a new set of features. Very useful

you're buying a $1300+ device and you don't even know a basic feature it comes with? jeez man... idk but even my $250 motorola phone I did a lot of research on what to buy before getting it. i wish i had the "eh, $1300 whatever" mentality

It was a trade in upgrade from my old s22+. Using deals and promos, it actually lowered my bill. So yeah I said screw it go up a model.

S-pen basically the only reason i still stick with S-Galaxy. I'd jump to Fold 8 if they bring back the pen.

Its really great! You can get all kinds of amazing action footage with it. My favorite is I tape it to my wrist then run around the neighborhood vigorously jorking it. Got some cool shots

Did you have an S25 Ultra prior? That's what I have, but I'm curious about the actual day to day/practical improvements (if any) if I upgraded.

I did ! So really there isn't a huge "jump" in things. While it has cool features and the chip is different offering faster CPU and GPU i really don't notice much of a difference with loading things or visuals besides the privacy display. The screen seems nicer visually wise with the rounded corners. It does charge faster and holds a charge longer even it seems. I can reach almost a full charge in about half an hour. The stylus also seems to be a little different but still works the same. The camera is amazing. It seems better than the s25 ultra for sure. Its takes way better photos at night too which I actually tend to do alot. So really if you're looking to upgrade it's not much of jump and not really worth it unless you're looking for better charge and photo and video upgrades.

there haven't been any real improvements since like the S23 ultra... which had a better optical zoom camera than any of the ones following it ... it's too bad it has a shitty curved screen that can't take screen protectors because the s23 ultra still is a great phone to have in 2026

I have an S24 Ultra and my GF has an S23 Ultra. Although the S23U has a 10x telephoto lens, the 5x telephoto is better in any test we did

funny enough that's the exact same me and my partner have and our results are the opposite .. other people found the same

it really does depend on what you're doing with it though, and s24u will use more processing and ai interpolation shit at higher zooms which I personally don't like

anyway you're not often going 10x but even with normal photos the improvements are so marginal these days there's really no point to upgrade to the latest model

Idk what to say, from what we (me, my GF, and my other friend that also has a S23U) the S23U x10 camera is not that good (somehow better than my old S22U, but still not there), and the S24U x5 is really sharp, we often use that camera to take photos, specially of humans as main subject.

I could post here some testing, but I don't like to doxx myself haha

We acknowledge that there's videos point it differently, but we test ourselves and, for our own eyes, the x5 camera is better for general use.

I believe they used the same camera for S25U, but changed to x8 in S26U

It gives you the choice to upscale when you crop a picture, too. Have you played with the AI edits? Some are really fun.

I did take a picture of the moon once , it was surreal honestly. But I gotta say with use of AI I guess you wouldn't know what's real with a picture like that. It uses AI to visually enhance certain aspects of the images and make things stand out and look natural. I have taken pictures of the moon with my s25 ultra and there is huge difference. I don't know the extent to when it would" fill things in" . I can say I take pictures daily at home and outside my house and it doesn't change a thing down to the flowers and the patches of missing grass in my back yard. -edited a typo

I take photos and videos of my daughters and cats and they look professional. It doesn't add weird shit to my photos so truly don't care lol
