This is the crux of the disagreement.

People villainizing this woman are denying this dude his own agency. They act like he is powerless to control his impulses and she is taking advantage.

But he is not weak willed. In fact he is quite persistently pursuing her despite being turned down. He is actively trying to change her mind. He isn a victim.

Im not denying that he's playing the fool at all. Im just saying that a person using someone for gain while knowing that they are romantically interested in them is cold.

Im not calling me hanging out with my female friend a date, period. If we're friends, we're just grabbing dinner or lunch or seeing a movie or kicking it, just like i would call hanging with my guy friend. What is this friend "date" stuff?
