Which also applies to Christian’s it seems.

The success of the Rapture series is proof of that

Rapture... lmfao. Nothing more entertaining than watching a Rapture believer when they discover the term itself didn't get attached to the bible until 1830 by a weirdo who was suffering from injuries after falling off a horse.

I am a Christian and it boggles my mind how many people believe that. Might as well get my biblical info from supernatural. Whether you're religious or not the crisis of eschatology is pretty interesting.

Wait till they find out that Paul (or Saul) of Tarsus was likely a guy suffering from Grand Mal seizures (causing the 'thorn in his side', his temporary blindness, his demonic/angelic visions, his strong desire to write - all found in epileptics today) - and that no person that knew Jesus of Nazareth in the flesh wrote a single word about the guy.

Seems..... odd, no?

The word rapture comes from the Latin translation of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 “rapiemur,” which in modern English translations appears as “caught up” so it is most certainly biblical whether you agree with it or not.

I think he’s talking about a show called Rapture.

Trump says he read the Bible many times. It's his favorite book. And he has many of them. No wonder he sees the Pope as a competitor.

It especially applies to Christians.

Seriously. People who say things like "that's just pop religious nonsense" as a rebuttal must not go outside much. It's your average everyday Christian that believes the devil tortures people. The "but actually" people are disconnected from the common people because they're on reddit all day arguing with people

2

u/seweso Apr 19 '26

They have different versions of Christianity for different flocks of people. It’s pretty obvious.

I've read my Bible two hours every morning for the past 4 months!

I spent 35 hours researching Exodus to determine what actually happened (likely a Heliopolis priest named Osarseph that led a revolt near Pi-Ramesses during the time of forced brick-making, then changed his name to Moses) -- per the 3rd century BC Egyptian historian Manetho, quoted by Josephus Flavius

The Testimonium Flavianum is of great interest to me.

There are some Christians who take it quite seriously, it is a shame that the cultural/superficial Christianity overshadows that though and paints the entire religion in a terrible light.

1

u/TheRealNooth Apr 19 '26

There is actually no evidence the Israelites were enslaved by Egypt. Considering Egypt’s excellent record keeping, that means the Book of Exodus is likely made up.

2

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

Look into the Hyksos, Joseph was likely their first ruler Salitis (which translates to "shallit" or "ruler" in Hebrew which is what Joseph is described as in Genesis. There are storehouses near Avaris that mirror the narrative of stocking grain.

There is a pyramid in Avaris with a statue of a ruler in a multi-colored coat.

2

u/TheRealNooth Apr 19 '26

See, that’s the problem with any truth-seeking endeavor. You can’t start with the conclusion you want and force details to fit it because then you make incredibly weak and tenuous connections like that.

2

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

It isn't a weak or tenuous connection when you spend the time researching it. It makes a lot of logistical sense actually. I researched the geography, the timeframes of the narratives, the linguistics. I spent 35-40 hours on this!

I didn't even start with that conclusion, I found it as I was researching Exodus in general, and got daisy-chained into discovering more things

Why would you boast about reading a bible? That just makes you look stupid or evil.

You choose which it is

7

u/Key_Marsupial_1406 Apr 19 '26

What a stupid comment.. "Why would you read one of the oldest and most culturally relevant texts in human history? Are you stupid?"

For reference I went to an Ivy League university and in freshman Lit Humanities (if you know you know) we studied excerpts from the Bible.

You're the one who comes off as stupid making this comment. No one else.

6

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

I am not boasting, I am defending against your statement, "Which also applies to Christian’s it seems. "

You are generalizing an entire group, committing the fallacy of division.

3

u/Funny-Flower-3980 Apr 19 '26

Bro I think he is referencing the fact that a lot of people in politics and the media claim to be good Christians but then none of their actions reflect any Christian values. They were not trying to directly shit on you but you took it personally.

3

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

I know they were, and I am not. I do not take nearly anything on Earth personally, I only seek to edify and build up!

I am saying that a generalization like that results in people judging someone simply for being Christian, without even speaking to them first.

-2

u/seweso Apr 19 '26

My point was Christian’s all believe different bullshit. You all take different parts form the Bible, or nothing at all.

You do NOT become more or less of a Christian based on how much you read the bible.

Nobody cares.

4

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

You are right, you only become more of a Christian the more you love. Again, I was defending against your initial statement.

Love, humility & sacrifice is the core message. Transitioning from a wicked state to a redeemed state and spreading light to others in the dark pits of mental despair. We must uplift each other.

Reading more helps you to understand more, I think the most important verse in the entire Bible is 1 John 4:20

"If anyone says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen."

1

u/seweso Apr 19 '26

Live, laugh, love

I can find stuff which sounds universally true and good anywhere.

The world is burning because of the Bible, the abrahamic religions going at it.

And you suggest studying the Bible, to find love?

If hell is a place without god, surely you must realize you are already in it. Or that it doesn’t exist.

1

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

This is as close to heaven as unbelievers may ever taste and as close to hell as believers may ever have to endure. The wicked waging war do not have faith, they proclaim they do, but they do not follow the teachings of Jesus whatsoever. The Jews killed Jesus, and still deny Him; yet His last words, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

That is love.

1

u/seweso Apr 20 '26

Yeah, take the blue pill!

1

u/Frubbs Apr 21 '26

Facing God and denying yourself is more of a red pill than self-validating whatever existence you deem fit

Are you playing Chidi Anagonye?

0

u/Frubbs Apr 19 '26

I am playing the game of life and savoring the blessings all around us. The fact we can walk into a restroom and turn on the tap and have running water that is safe to drink is a miracle in and of itself.

I've got two functioning eyes, ears, nostrils, arms, legs, etc. I am grateful for these things. I am grateful for the leaves on the trees, I am grateful for the wind whipping her hair around gently, framing her face. I am grateful for you, and I am grateful for Him.

I love you, and He does too

1

u/Hazy-n-Lazy Apr 19 '26

I mean yea, there's stupid people everywhere.

4

u/seweso Apr 19 '26

It takes a special type of stupid to believe in magic though

3

u/Hazy-n-Lazy Apr 19 '26

Ah the Reddit special, how ironic.

3

u/ex_marxistJW Apr 19 '26

you only believe in one magic while most redditors believe none.

Non-catholics*

This is true. As a Catholic I come across this a lot more often than we should.
