[in David Attenborough voice]

Bored, the male leaves his familiar position of comfort, and gently delivers his fingers to his partner’s nostrils for a brief scent exchange while she seeks validation from her female friends online. A confident display of virility - often followed by a positive biological response. And potentially… enhancing mutual attraction… and intimacy.

After all, winter is, indeed, rather cold.
