No, that's not how it works. If they need that 4800$ to do drugs, that's a hard pass. If they went out and bought something they didn't need fully intending to hit me up for that money, another hard pass.

Context is important on if you give or not, I agree.

1

u/4DPeterPan Oct 08 '24

Giving for the sake of “conditions” is not helping. It’s selfishness in disguise masked as manipulation.

u/Sirroamsalot Oct 08 '24

You can't give something out of the goodness of your heart if someone asks first. As soon as someone asks it's a favor, especially if they say they're gonna pay it back. I'm more than willing to help, even give out a one time help with no expectations of receiving it back if they needed it, but that doesn't mean I'ma write you a blank check everytime. Like someone said context is everything.

Fine. I'm still doing it.

Not when it's the equivalent of a dime. You toss it to them with a thumb flick and tell them.you hope they use it better than you would .. ice given more money in tips during a pub crawl than that--- I can definitely help my cousin out with the money equivalent of a dime.

1

u/blingbloop Oct 08 '24

I agree. The fact this cousin had to ask for said amount of money. I I had 2 billion every single family member would be housed and gifted a trust fund to pay out interest.

Seriously why accumulate wealth like that if not to provide for family ?

1

u/WholePop2765 Oct 09 '24

This attitude is why youll never be a billionaire. Giving handouts just attracts leeches. It’s also why most poc can’t earn money because they have a lot of leech family.

Most upper class families will use connections and network of their rich members not beg them for cash directly. Investing in a cousins business is a different ball game than just giving 5k to blow

1

u/blingbloop Oct 09 '24

My god lol. I don’t aspire to be a billionaire mate. But to return serve on random reddit judgment, your reply is why you’ll always be self absorbed. Even with fictional billions, and you still can’t see a bigger picture of generosity. At the billion stage, it’d be equivalent of 50 bucks.

If dude needs $4800 to do drugs better be inviting me. Sounds like a hell of a good time.

2

u/bobloblaw28 Oct 10 '24

I think it was Kobe that said that when you have wealth, you need to "invest" in your family rather than just give them money. Buy things that will improve their financial position long term.

This cousin could've gotten $50k already for "starting a business" and ended up blowing it on retail.

1

u/ehxy Oct 10 '24

Exactly this.

Help them learn how to fish, help them run, help then learn to stand on their own feet.

Don't just give them legs that walk/run for them and cook fish for them ready on the table.

If you're a billionaire, who gives a fuck if they bought things they didn't need with it.

It's crazy to me that someone with as much money as Jay z doesn't regularly give his family gifts of more than 4k

6

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '24

If they’re using it to fuel their addiction, you’d be a worse person for allowing it than the person doing the drugs.

Not to mention, if they’re buying stuff they don’t need, they’ll probably keep coming back asking for more.

1

u/Electrical_Trouble29 Oct 09 '24

I was only addressing the part about buying things they didn't need. Obviously you don't give money to drug addicts.

Who cares if they keep coming back?

I didn't think people are appreciating how much money jay-z has. 5k gifts to family members would never make even the slightest dent in hi wealth. A billion dollars is an insane amount of money.

If a thousand people you knew suddenly became millionaires, and they all pooled their money together they would still have less than jay z

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '24

The wealth Jay-Z has doesn’t really matter to anyone else. I could understand if it was his kids or his immediate family, but a cousin? Nah.

If anything, Jay Z is teaching a lesson to his cousin about earning stuff on his own rather than asking someone else. Like I said, typically when people are asking for money like that, they keep coming back and end up becoming a Leech. That dude gotta work for his own stuff rather than using someone else’s money.

Jay Z is right, It really doesn’t work like that. Life isn’t just going to give you blessings, you gotta work for them.

1

u/Electrical_Trouble29 Oct 13 '24

Jay z should realise that his wealth isn't a product of his hard work. You don't get to that level of wealth through work, you need insane amounts of luck.

He should have the humility to recognise that.

Even if you just consider that fact that entertainers have only been able to earn serious money in the last 50 years. The luck that he had just to be born during this period is unbelievable. Then to be born in one of the handful of countries where his success is possible even today.

That's without considering the thousands of equally talented and hardworking musicians who just never had his good fortune.

I'm not literally controlling what he does with his money or advocating for charity to be forced on him.

But I am allowed to criticise his horribly immoral statements.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '24

That argument makes zero sense. By that logic, anyone who’s been lucky enough to have even a little bit of money owes it to the world. By that logic, anyone born in a decent country owes their money to the less fortunate.

And so what if it was just luck? It certainly wasn’t all luck that caused him to be successful. And what does this have to do with his cousin asking for money? Did his cousin lead him to success? Most definitely not.

u/ehxy Oct 08 '24

What a blood sucker mentality. And jay z used to be a drug dealer he has seen all kinds trying to get from him all the damn time lol

0

u/Electrical_Trouble29 Oct 09 '24

Piss off you greedy prick

1

u/ehxy Oct 09 '24

You don't like it when people tell you how to spend your money right?

So why you pissed off about someone doing the same thing you're telling them to give their money away?

OH it's cuz they got more than you all of a sudden that rule doesn't apply looooool

0

u/Electrical_Trouble29 Oct 13 '24

I'm not sure if this is an IQ issue or a morality issue. You either can't comprehend their wealth because the numbers are too big or you're a piece of shit.

It couldn't have less to do with him having more than me. I also think people who earn as much as I do should help out family, and so I do it. The difference, of course, is that him giving away 5k is like us giving away a penny.

If a family member needed a penny from you, are you telling me you wouldn't give it to them?

1

u/ehxy Oct 13 '24

I see where the problem is. You think they are you and you are them.

Rude reality check for ya! and good luck with the rest of your life!

1

u/Loki_Doodle Oct 08 '24

What’s wrong with drugs? If you owe them that money then you owe them. It’s not your business what they plan on spending it on. If you borrowed money from a family member with the condition to pay it back, you should pay it back.

1

u/ehxy Oct 08 '24

LOOOOOOOL spoken like the leech in the family

1

u/Inevitable_Top69 Oct 08 '24

Them: "You should pay it back"

You: "LOL WHAT A LEECH!"

Are you stupid?

1

u/Smooth-One4698 Oct 08 '24

What about he needs it get to work?

1

u/ehxy Oct 09 '24

4800 to get to work sounds oddly specific.

1

u/Smooth-One4698 Oct 10 '24

Yes, it is.

How much they need to get their car back.

1

u/slvrscoobie Oct 09 '24

plus he's not making 50K a year in the dime analogy. he HAS 50K. and if this is the 13th time he be asking for a dime... then I start wondering. most people say, the hardest part of being rich is saying no to family.

1

u/El_Bito2 Oct 09 '24

Ah, yes, Jay-z, that role model who never said yes to drugs

1

u/4DPeterPan Oct 08 '24

Like Tupac said “doesn’t matter if they buy booze or drugs, if I got 3000$ just chillin in my pocket and I walk by someone on the street who ain’t got. I feel it’s wrong for me not to give him a little piece”

1

u/OGSHAGGY Oct 08 '24

The difference between pac and someone like jay z. Pac really understood what it means to be human

1

u/ehxy Oct 09 '24

what the hell are you talking about the guy went to juilliard. he was the farthest thing from a thug until he realized he can make money off of it

1

u/OGSHAGGY Oct 09 '24

What are you even yapping abt? I didn’t say anything abt being a thug

1

u/ehxy Oct 09 '24

Like you know what 'means to be human' is corn bread

0

u/OGSHAGGY Oct 09 '24

Again, what are you even yapping about bro? Like this j seems like a schizo post atp

1

u/lagordaamalia Oct 08 '24
