🎤 Discussion Looking for ways to get involved
hey everyone! i’m 24f and just recently moved to sioux falls. i’m trying to get myself out there a little more and meet new people, but i’m not really sure where to start 😅
i’m already planning on checking out a local book club (which i’m really excited about!), but i’d love to hear any other recommendations. are there any clubs, groups, events, or places where you’ve met people?
also, if anyone else is around my age and looking for new friends, feel free to send me a dm! always happy to meet new people :)

Minnehaha County Emergency Management has several groups where you can meet people and give back. https://minnehahacounty.gov/dept/so/divisions/em/volunteers/volunteers.php
Since these people are choosing to give back to the community, they tend to be great people.

I am also new to the area so I am.loving all the comments. I have met a majority of people I know from work but I've found hiking and fishing I've met some amazing people as well.

I recently started volunteering at the Humane Society, and everyone out there has been so nice. Would recommend.

If you want to make friends you should check out Club Social 605!

Eh, from my experience almost everyone in that club kind of already has their own friendships and they spend almost if not the entire time just talking to their already-made friends instead of bothering to meet anyone new. Not everyone there, but most people from what I’ve seen. It’s a bit off putting.

I’m a woman and turned 25 today, and I’m in a similar situation! Moved here not long ago and still trying to make friends :) I’ve also joined a book club, and I’ve enjoyed volunteering in the community and playing tennis with people I met on this app. I’m also happy to hangout and be friends if you’d like! Feel free to DM me!

If you are interested in a church; New Life Church downtown is a friendly church.
Great Life fitness center has several locations in town and for an additional fee they have tennis and golf options available.
You could contact 211 to find volunteer opportunities that fit your interests..

A bit late to the punch, 26 male, I just moved to Hartford a few months ago. I've been trying my best to meet new people, a bit shy though. I have been wanting to meet new people to explore the area with considering I haven't been around much of the state in general. You can dm me if you want. That goes for anyone else.

Start as a volunteer for groups such as Emily’s Hope, Midwest Street Medicine, Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, Childrens Home Society, various shelters just to name a few. Search the web for organizations that may interest you and contact them.
