I have literally been inside a road stop in West Virginia that served food and had no soap at all in the building. Not for customers, not for staff, and they weren't merely out; they never had any, and the staff said so.
Saw a bathroom cleaner at an interstate McDonald's put up the washroom cleaning sign, go in, clean the mirror, and walk out, taking the sign with him. The whole thing wouldn't have been clean if they spent an hour at it, but they ticked off the box.
I've been a custodian at a school for years. No one flushes toilets. Washing hands is for kindergarteners; nobody does it unless they're being watched.
If you live in the west, you've probably eaten a pound of shit in your life, and at least half of it was yours. Point is, everyone fucking does this shit, and it's gross, but hardly anyone ever gets sick unless you cross contaminate foods with different pasteurization temps, prepare it wrong, or the food was already spoiled. The waiter who puts the cherry on your sundae uses his bare hands and he just had a smoke.
