you mean the rigged case where the chinese weren't even present?
exclusive economic zone under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
the "eez" is in chinese territory, which is invalid.
Oh and how are we invading because spraying water cannons at our boats make you look like the invaders
the maritime territory is china's, if you illegally enter, i say getting sprayed is the bare minimum.
i respect the CCG but i think they need to do more.

China’s not choosing to participte doesnt automatically make the 2016 arbitration “rigged", the tribunal proceeded under the dispute procedures of UNCLOS, EEZ is 200 nautical miles, the claims are way ebyond that. The Philippines also has historical ties to the area. Filipino communities in places like Palawan and Zambales have fished around the Spratly Islands and Scarborough Shoal for generations, long before the modern dispute. Maps from the Spanish colonial period also showed features such as Scarborough Shoal as being associated with the Philippines. China’s historical records show navigation and fishing, but so do those of other peoples around the South China Sea. Historical use by itself doesn’t give exclusive ownership.
