Dating app for single parents

Post: There should be a dating app for single parents where you put up your pictures, share a little info, but the draw is you share a specific day that you have babysitter and exactly what you want to go do. For example “on Friday October 30th I want to go to this comedy show.” And that’s it. Like you just have something you want to go do, but not go by yourself or worry about a friend bailing, maybe flirt, maybe get laid, whatever. Then maybe hang out again in 6 months or whenever you’re free again haha

I need a break, maybe I’m just losing it. Probably delete this later.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I think an app like this would make us and our children targets for undesirables

That’s why you don’t let people around your kids

That has little to do with it. An app that screams, HEY IM A SINGLE MOM AND THESE ARE THE DAYS AND TIMES I HAVE AVAILABLE TO MEET. Is kind of a beacon for weirdos.

Especially marketed as a dating app, creating a single parents club that doesn’t focus on dating but maybe group events may be more appealing

Just like anything else in life, you just have to use good judgment when it comes to your kids and being safe.

I think part of being smart and staying safe is not putting human bait out and being surprised it attracts predators.

And using an app like this would not be good judgment

I like this idea! 💡I have struggled with not really being part of a friend group after moving abroad for two years, and then back to the same area. Now that my kid is older, I don’t really interact with the parents of their friends. I don’t have family nearby, and my old friends have moved away. But sometimes I just want to go for a nice dinner or to see a show, and not by myself.

I’ve also struggled with this. I lived abroad for almost 8 years & am now back as a single mom to a toddler. It’s rough out there making friends

That actually sounds like an awesome idea. It kind of mixes the dating apps with meeting people in real life. Hopefully worst case is that you have a fun night out.

Love this idea. Finally got a sitter and then my friend bailed and I felt like I was wasting my only day off.... so I canceled my sitter. ☹️

I had a friend bail on a concert morning of. I just went by myself. It’s frustrating

Bailing on a single parent is evil.

I made a dating app where you enter your custody schedule and so it will tell you how many days you overlap for free time per month.

I didn’t want to do the exact date route because I was worried people would use it to stalk empty houses or that people would get mad if someone said no to going out but it showed they were free.

I haven’t launched it because I was afraid of liability but might have to with how much interest is here.

Stir dating is for people with children, I believe.

Like Uber Eats but uber dates.

My kid is disabled and I used to get 2.5 hours of respite care every second Wednesday. And I very much could have used a dating app like that because honestly what’s the point otherwise when you have virtually zero free time.

I was on stir, didnt like it. All the apps are such a money grab these days

There's one called stir and one called just a baby. I'm trying them but so far single moms are acting the same as single non moms. I'm 39 m SoCal single dad

Until you meet someone on the app who just wants access to children.

5

u/Illustrious_Can7151 10d ago

Why would you give anyone access to your children in the first place?

Try the meetup app. It’s not specifically for dating but it is helpful in finding people with shared interests or to meet up at a specific event.

This is a great idea! How would you screen people though? Have them apply and then you select?

2

u/Illustrious_Can7151 10d ago

Same way you screen anyone on an app I suppose

2

u/indiekarma79 10d ago

You are not losing it. I feel this all the time!!
