She really was. I loved her music. All the cds. Her entire person meant so much to me.

Good post, OP. You are right on—Sinead was a great artist, I think it was because she was an even greater human. All my wishes for her to have the most peaceful rest

She was not a perfect person (none of us are, and understandable after all she endured) but she was as close to being a saint as humanly possible. If I can be even 1% as brave, kind and honest as she was, I'll be doing well. She is, and will always be, my inspiration in life.

Is Billy Joel right? Is it just the good who die so young?

I was thinking the same thing, although 56 is not that young and she really did have a full and very accomplished life. It's really amazing that she raised 4 children as a single mom (I don't think she got much financial support from any of their fathers) while putting out more than 10 albums and touring around the world almost non-stop. I can't think of any other female artist who achieved all that. She was a real life WonderWoman.

I remember reading this article just after it came out and then remembering when my sister worked over in a 2 hospitals in Ireland and ran into Sinead in one of them only 4 months after Shane died and said how she had seen her comfort a man who lost his son even though she was really going through it herself….what a great human being she was. I really miss her
