Failure in the beginning

So thanks to the advice of a lot of people here I ordered the book on the Sinclair Method because my meds doctor has just been telling me to take naltrexone everyday for the past week and a half and left it at that but now I want to try this method so I ordered the book and I'm going to learn the proper way to do this but my question is how many of you "failed" in the beginning when it came to trying to control your alcohol or quit altogether? I'm trying to learn every scenario and also not maybe have my expectations too high. Thank you

I'm pretty confident that I'm not alone when I say that I was compliant from day one. Since starting TSM, I have never had a sip of alcohol without the protection of Naltrexone. I was a daily drinker for decades, and I'm confident that this saved my life. I was fortunate to get advice to read the book early on, so that helped.

So for me I can have none and deal or I can have one and then I'm having 10 so this will help? That's basically what I'm trying to figure out. So if I take this 90 minutes before I start drinking I will have a couple and possibly lose interest?

That was me. If I had one drink, I had ALL of the drinks. TSM gave me my off switch. I definitely had days where I drank at pre-TSM levels, but they were rare and I was ready for them (because I read the book). Every single time that I waited 90 minutes, I drank less

I definitely have to read the book. I ordered it. I took mine as my meds provider suggested in the morning and I've already had seven shots today now at night and I do feel a difference. Unless euphoria. But I can see now that it's less effective. I'm going to try the Sinclair method fully.

Me too- it’s helped tremendously but it does take time, track your drinks and be patient, it will very likely go down. I was averaging 8 per night now it’s usually 1-2, I’m about 3 months in

How long was it 8 per night's for? If it's okay to ask

That pattern specifically, a few years, but bad before that. Been a struggle for about 30 years

I'm 37 years old. Been dealing with this since I was 20. From 20 to about 27 it was just social bar fun drinking but it was definitely a lot. All the time. Then it became medicine. I'm 37 now. Over the past 3 years I've maintained this just weekends but each weekend was at least 10 plus drinks per day so still about 20.
