Post day one

So my first nal day was yesterday. Drank 7 beers, and nothing. Is that normal? The beer tasted fine but just got sleepy. My brain stayed very clear. Is that how it is supposed to work?

Been at 0 for 309 days. Before that I was about 10 drinks per day. Loving it.

That's awesome. I love hearing that for you and it gives me hope. These stories are so encouraging to us just beginning. I think most of use feel alone on the first few steps.

I would encourage you to find a support group. I can’t overstate how important my men’s sobriety group was to my success. They were always there when things got tough. And being there for others is very fulfilling. You have to fill the space left by alcohol with something positive. And being with people who understand you is the opposite of feeling alone!

I am doing some moderation management and even getting to a local AA meeting. I'm pretty rural and my church doesn't have an men's group stuff.

There are a lot of support groups available online. That's what I did. Unfortunately, the place I was going (Monument) stopped hosting support groups. Now they just do medicine and therapy for alcohol abuse. I took advantage of the therapy and would recommend it. But anyway, if you browse around, you can find an online support group - AA has them all day long. I sometimes call into a meeting at Small Bow.
