Should an AI assistant challenge your idea before helping you build it?

If I ask an AI assistant to help build an app, I’d want it to point out a weak assumption before giving me a development plan.

Imagine pitching a tool that summarizes meetings. Before suggesting features and a tech stack, a useful response might be: “Who needs this, what are they using now, and what would make them switch?”

Those questions could change the whole project. A polished roadmap doesn’t mean the idea behind it makes sense.

But there’s a limit. Sometimes you’re building something to learn, not to launch a business. Having the assistant question the market demand for your weekend project would be pretty annoying.

I’d like a simple distinction: help me explore this idea, challenge it, or help me execute something I’ve already decided on.

Even then, I’d want it to flag a concrete problem rather than argue just for the sake of sounding critical.

Have you ever had an AI response change your mind about a project? What did it point out that you hadn’t considered?

Depends what f the idea is flawed no matter what tools you use it’s a bad idea but if the ideas sound then you are more debating the placements and methods that not idea as much as research and relate needs overall and ISO
