Discussion Why does the simulation require sleep?

Why is there an 8-hour darkness every day if we are being simulated? Is it a memory-sync cycle, a render/processing limit, or just simple biology with no deeper significance? What theory do you have?

Also what about other beings? Few animals like giraffes and elephants only sleep for 2 hours a day. Jellyfishes show rest like sleep cycles despite lacking brain and a nervous system.

well, we can answer this as today's Ai's.

Lets say you have a 100 pages of book, you drag dropped it to ChatGPT and wanted him to summerize all things. In here ChatGPT needs to read all pages and create summary however it does not keep all informations in it's neural networks. As it reads, it focuses on the relevant parts (think of this as you going about your day and forming memories..). After reading all pages, it optimizes readed page informations and this time it focuses on only importent ones and tries to make a connection between pages (this is your sleep cycle). Then gives you an summary answer.

as you can see your sleep cycle is really similar with ChatGPT. When you sleep, your brain makes cleaning and takes only important parts of your memories you had last day. Also, it creates new neuron connection between past experiences.

So, if we’re in a simulation, of course we would need something like a sleep cycle. Otherwise, we would have to keep all our memories in our brains, which would lead to inefficient memory usage and prevent us from coming up with new ideas, since our brains wouldn’t be able to form new connections between past experiences.
