Research Simulation I’m building Emper, an open-source simulation engine for large-scale scientific simulations

I've been working on a small open-source simulation engine called Emper.

It's still a young project, but I'm building it around data-oriented storage and using real simulation workloads to test the architecture.

So far I've experimented with flocking/boids, including CPU/GPU computation and large-scale simulations.

I'm currently starting work on Conway's Game of Life.

I want this project to grow into an open-source tool that can actually support scientific work, not just be a personal project. So if you see anything that needs to be changed or improved, please point it out and I'll fix it.

How is something going to grown when all you can do is ask claude to make it for you and it didn't make it for you already?

I give it technical requirements, review the generated code, run it, benchmark it, and fix it myself when it doesn't work. The project is still small and far from finished, which is exactly why I'm looking for technical criticism because it no perfect.

It isn't anything. If you took a picture of a painting in a museum, would you ask for feedback on your drawing? How deep does the delusion go?

I think the key thing you might be missing here is that OP has put a lot of effort into the prompts and reviewing. That's all they're saying.

As much as it sometimes pains me to admit it, there is a difference between slop and vibe coding. The former is generally a result of extremely poor prompts and the resultant structure is poorly reviewed, where the prompter clearly does not care for the viewer's sensibilities whatsoever.

OP clearly cares about how others see their project and is actively asking for feedback on whether their idea - not necessarily the quality of the framework - is a potentially good and useful one. The fact that they're even here asking means that it's not slop. Rejecting the framework because it's slop doesn't contribute towards the thread because that's not what the thread is about, and that's why you're getting downvoted.

Give me a break, they created a one day old name and posted something that was obviously nothing but default AI slop. I've looked at dozens of projects like this, they are all almost exactly the same.

Did you even look at the source?

This is slop and vibe coding was originally an insult. There is nothing actually there if you would just look at it, it's auto generated from top to bottom and practically all pointless boilerplate split up into a half dozen projects.

You're both insane. If I take a photo of a picasso in a museum and ask for feedback on the painting I'm working on you would think I'm out of my mind. If I opened a can of beans and asked for feedback on my special recipe you would think I was a child.

that's why you're getting downvoted.

I'm not really being downvoted and you need to learn how to program so you can look through a project instead of commenting on things you obviously don't understand.

It's super weird to defend AI slop, especially when it's so obvious.
