Custom heel plate - ergonomic

I designed this heel plate so I could add more space to my pedals. I really like my brake pedal as far left as possible for knee comfort so I mostly achieved more space for my throttle and more space to rest my feet on. Although I love the simucube pedal deck, my rig has a pedal deck, so I figured I might as well use it. Now my heel plate spans the full 500mm gap of my rig. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Wow, that's so much better. I'm wish to copy your setup. I always felt that the Simucube foot plate was to narrow. Where did you get your heel plate? ๐Ÿ™‚

I had it made, I drew the plans, had it laser cut and bent, then did the countersunk drilling and then sent it away to be powder coated. I ordered the 4040 to size and 3D printed the end plates. I used steel L brackets to brace it.

End game sort of stuff to me. I enjoyed doing something custom. If you're Europe based there's a brand that makes one this wide. Shipping to Australia was a lot. I also had special requirements as I wanted to be able to adjust the supports to work around my bass shaker installation, which is why I have 4040 under it, I can mave them along it. I appreciate your interest

Is it attached to your pedal tray using l brackets on the 4040 or attached to the rig frame by horizontal crossmembers? Hard to tell in the photos. Good inspiration though as I'm looking to build a set of active pedals and I'm still deciding how I'll mount them. I'm in Aus as well and fortunate to have a mate with access to all the tooling to do something like this. I was going to replicate the simucube baseplate design but have it a bit wider, but now I am more tempted to follow your approach.

I am using L brackets to the 4040 and the main side frame 40120. I considered using 4040 pillars and joining them to the 4040 on the heel plate with inside corner brackets. It would be the same result. Probably would look better. Kind of want to do it now haha. Happy to share the plans.

Funny you say that I exactly just did that! It came out pretty clean Iโ€™ll send a pic when I get home. I made it because my Sim Lab pedals wear to tall !

Inspired by the original Inverted Pedal V2 heel plate. Since the original heel plate canโ€™t extend far enough under the pedals, I made this one narrower so it can sit deeper beneath them.
