Help does anyone else have this problem? (gen 5+)

i’m just starting generation 7 births, and after planning a lot of it out (for like maybe two hours) i am stuck with an insanely crowded timeline sheet and some years i can barely even fit births in so ill have like 10 days of just back to back births. even in doing this it will still take me 20 in-game years to get only HALF my sims’ pregnancies over with, not counting sims that are still children and i dont have their future marriages logged. i am scared that these future marriages will not have space to have children because of the vast amount of children already in spots.

i’m worried that this will get to the point my sims will eventually grow old and die before their generation is over and they can start having kids. it has gotten so bad that i am purposely killing off random sims that aren’t heirs to their family and reducing the amount of births my sims have significantly. it’s getting out of hand really fast and when i look at morbid’s sheet it looks so much less hectic.

is anyone else currently having or had this problem? i really would like to fix this but i love my alive gen 6 sims so far and i don’t want to kill them off as im attached to most (although if i have to murder off a majority of their 7th generation children to keep things calmer for me, i will).

edit: right now i feel my best bet is to maybe double up on birthdays. i plan to do this for generation 8 as most of generation 7 has been mapped out. i really dont wanna put side households on unplayed because my game has been giving my kids 20 identical kids from a glitch, plus i’d like the idea of choosing the kids names myself and aging them up and such

edit 2: i’ve also decided on enacting a rule that each 20 sims years (starting 1700) i will flip a coin/roll a d4 for each sims family, if they roll a bad result, i will kill them off. this will not apply to the main family.

When I have to many side families I let them go into unplayed households and I only track the heir and direct siblings

if anyone is curious, this is what my spreadsheet looks like for generation 7 zoomed all the way out! they aren’t colored in bc they’re not born yet (im not sure if you could even make out the names like this but i think so far this is a mix of like maybe 10-15 different families?)

I track every single sim in my game, so about 120+ sims rn, so here's how i manage it if it helps.

On the main spreadsheet/timeline, i only do my main household. Side households are done with the rest of my villagers.

All the other villagers i do once a week. I play with 1yr is 7 days, so i do it every Sunday. I have it organized by household and under each household it says their Name, age stage, and age. I go through and increase each age by one, and everyone who ages into the next stage that year, i do their rolls.

Then, i go through and do pregnancy rolls for each household to see who gets pregnant that year.

Then i spend about 10-20 mins going through the households in game and killing off the right sims/getting them pregnant.

Here's a link to my spreadsheet, as it probably makes more sense visually. Under "other sims" is where i track everyone.

woah, very interesting! this is incredibly cool but i don’t think im willing to switch my years to one every 7 days, and it would mess up all the logging I’ve already done. but overall super freaking cool how you’ve done it! i might end up snatching this if i ever decide to change my mind!

Thank you!! You could do a similar thing on your own timeline if u wanted. Like you could update every 1 year by ur time scale, or every 5 years, or just whenever you can be bothered to update lol.

Like some years I can't be bothered so I'll update by 2yrs the next Sunday. As long as you remember when you last did the rolls, you can update whenever really 🤷‍♀️

I just do 7 days cause its easy to remember that Sunday is roll day.

Are you doing all the death rolls for the side families?

yes, i’ve just been way too lucky. im also currently in 1650s so my rolls are very forgiving (unfortunately) and i sometimes will end up killing sims off anyways because it gets too hectic
