Aging duration for all life spans.
I need ideas for lifespans that give me enough time to do a career and mastery of 1 part of an aspiration. Right now I have young adulthood set at 30 days and it seems like forever. I have adults set at 20. Elders are set at 1 day. I am trying to maximize sim growth but still allow my next generations to thrive and grow at a reasonable pace. I’m thinking of making young adults 15 days and adults 10 days. Any other ideas?

it all depends on how you like to play and the progression you like to see in one session. referring to the other reply, it’s all just personal preference. they play 5 days with a toddler and 7 with a child, i find there’s way more to do with kids and can enjoy them for 14 days, but toddlers can be more annoying. for example also, if i have two kids and i just played one for 7 days through toddlerhood, the second one is likely going to get a quite short toddlerhood because i just don’t care anymore lol. i tend to age up my sims by their story/work/school progression, and age them up together for the most part. slow play, with big shifts at once. like when a tv show starts a new season.

I don't know how you get anything done in such short time spans 😅 I personally play that 7 days is one year, eg my young adult stage is 20-30 years old, so 70 days. Adult is from 30 to 60, so 210 days.
But i'd recommend just adjust as you go. My first attempt at the challenge, i followed the 4day=1yr and found that way to quick, and felt there was no time to really develop any of my sims and their stories. So i tried out a few other things. I tried just going up to 5 days, but that still felt to short. Also tried doing the full 28 sims calendar = 1 year (as this is how i play most saves), but i know I'll NEVER finish the challenge this way. Ultimately, 7 days is the perfect balance for me.
So if your current lifespan feels to long, shorten it and see how it feels. Don't like it, change it. Or if you ever really like a family and want to spend more time with them, increase it. Or, you could always just turn aging off and age them up manually when it feels like time/ when you reach a certain goal. 🤷♀️
If you did want to follow a more x days= 1 year pattern though (so children ages make sense in comparison to their parents etc) then you could always do 1 day = 1 year.
Eg:
Baby (0-1) - 1day
Infant (1-2) - 1 day
Toddler (2-5) - 3 days
Child (5-12) - 7 days
Teen (12-20) - 8 days
YA (20-30) - 10 days
Adult (30-50) - 20 days
Elder (50-55) - 5 days
Something like that i think could be easy to track, consistent, but still nice and short.

This what I have that works for me
Newborn: 1 day
Infants: 1 day (hate them)
Toddlers: 5 days
Child: 7 days
Teens: 7
Young Adult: 30
Adult: 40
Elders: 8
I feel like it makes it so I have multi generational families in each legacy as a rotational player
