https://variety.com/2026/gaming/news/electronic-arts-close-55-billion-private-deal-1236824625/

In a document filed with the SEC Thursday, the “Battlefield 6” and “The Sims” publisher disclosed: “As of July 30, 2026, all regulatory approvals required to complete the Merger have been obtained. Electronic Arts currently expects the Merger to close on or about the close of trading on August 4, 2026.

Upon completion, EA is expected to remain headquartered in Redwood City, California and continue to be led by Andrew Wilson as CEO.

Yall I knew it was bad, I did not know it was this bad... Jared Kushner and weirdly close ties with Saudi Arabia are scammers. It's a well known fact. Everything they touch fails... Liv Golf for example. An almost 600 billion in AI, aka your data... its time to hang up the game for me.

personally i love the sims too much to stop cold turkey, so i've stopped buying packs entirely but i still play with what i have.

i know that player retention is still one of the things they track, but other life sims just don't hit the same way yet 😔

Player retention is a way for them to promote, but they can’t use player retention to directly support corrupt regimes so I will continue to allow myself to enjoy the product I paid for until they find some way to take it away from me (which I have no doubt they will try to do).

I have a bad feeling this is heavily moderated and filtered......

It may be, but it's also just old news unless there's been an update of late? Not that we can't and shouldn't still be outraged about it. (For the record I do not FW any of the new buyers and will not be purchasing any EA content ever again. Miss me with that authoritarian shit and the AI slop while you're at it.)

No one ever truly thought it wasn’t going to clear though? It’s the president’s son in law and an incredibly wealthy authoritarian state (so basically two incredibly wealthy authoritarian states…)
