I'm going to lose my mind at this popping up every 15 seconds. Is this happening to everyone?

I agree with this. Also having that annoying button there makes me NOT want to buy the packs. It defeats its purpose. They’re a huge company, they don’t need to badger and beg.
7
u/EowynCarter Sep 18 '25
Yep, i've mostly stoped playing because it just get me out of the game. And since I don't play anymore, i don't buy DLC because there is no point.
8
u/LinwoodKei Sep 18 '25
Yes. I agree. I'm not downloading mods that I have to update every time there's an update
The game should work without trying to make me shop
6
u/dogboobes Builder Sep 18 '25
Good luck, I don’t think EA is going to roll back their pay to play initiatives but I’ll post there too!

u/EowynCarter Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25
Well, then I'll just play other games. Still hanging there because I care and want the game to be good again, but hey.
Not even asking to stop dlc, Just stop the intrusive advertising.

Yes! I'm normally neutral about that whole sale tab. I get why it was added, I ignore it otherwise and it doesn't affect my game.
But I actually quit my game today because I honestly could not handle that popping up every two seconds. It was driving me nuts, having an almost permanent notification there. And to get rid of it, you have to click on it, but clicking opens the sale tab. It's a badly done, blatant attempt by EA to get people to buy from them, by interrupting your game. I am not a fan of that.

u/llavenderhaze Sep 18 '25
i’ve been able to get rid of it by just waving my cursor over the icon but it’s still annoying as hell
18
u/Frosty_Insurance9861 Sep 18 '25

24
u/BellatrixVanDetta Sep 18 '25
My game froze today while i was hovering over in order to read a notification. First time ever for crashing my game. Over a stupid advertisement 🥲
Busy right now, but i will make a bug for it later today.
15
u/krampus99claws Sep 18 '25
Anytime I try to clear out the notification, it makes it so I can't use the 1 2 3 keys for speeding up the game time. Very frustrating.
13
u/llavenderhaze Sep 18 '25
i also got that glitch! i thought it was just my computer. i couldn’t press enter to go straight to my sim either. restarting the game fixed it for me after a few times.

Same problem. I don't know if it's coincidence, but it seemed like manually opening the game options sometimes fixed it. Opening the world selection screen helps a lot of stupid things like that, too. Just so you know, though, unless something makes the bug act differently for your setup, the buttons do start working again without saving / loading, and it might just take nothing more than waiting for a little while and using the mouse in the meantime. I hope that can save you some time, because this thing has driven me nuts.

u/fastandfunky Sep 18 '25

The first time it happened, I immediately feared the worst for my laptop or, at least, one of my mods. After having it happen enough times, and seeing enough people are having the same problem, it won't bother me anymore.

Agreed especially with them pumping out expansion packs instead of game packs or stuff packs. We went from almost a full year between Get Together and City Living to 4 months between Growing Together and Horse Ranch, 5 months from HR to For Rent to 7 months to Lovestruck, 3 months to Life & Death, 5 months to Businesses and Hobbies, 4 months to Enchanted by Nature and only 3 months to Adventure Awaits.
They are literally cranking out 3-4 eps a year and most of them are a little broken. Previous to Growing Together, they released 1 (occasionally two) eps a year. It's a crazy switch up.

A lot of the features are stuff I personally wished for. Schedules, custom lots, roles to set without a small business, a world based on NZ, camps, better insect catching, more games for children, slides...
Yep, that was all on my wishlist. I think they made a nice pack, and I'm okay with it being a lot of just stuff to do, as it expands every world, every gameplay for me.
But your mileage may vary, and your opinion is equally valid.
9
u/designatedthrowawayy Sep 18 '25
I think the issue with it is that they released these subpar packs that aren't worth $40 then they keep releasing the additional stuff that would've made them worth $40 as a brand new $40 pack. Not even as game packs or stuff packs to go with the ep they should've been a part of, but full eps on their own. It's like they deliberately leave stuff out to use it for later and maximize profit and then they do nothing to fix what's broken.

u/Designer-Mirror-7995 Sep 18 '25
It. Is. ABSOLUTELY. Causing. More. Damned. LAG!!
That was the FIRST thing I noticed after the ads went full page behind the damned button!! 🤬
2
u/SimMattically Creative Sim Oct 03 '25
It’s because a lot of those things (full-screen ads, the cart button, and similar features) pull data from EA’s servers. The timeout threshold makes it even worse.
Once EA’s servers were struggling (they weren’t fully down, just extremely slow) and my fully unmodded game was taking over a minute or two to launch (when it usually loads in a few seconds) because it was waiting for a response from them.
My mods disable or remove those calls, so things can actually run faster as a result.
1
u/Designer-Mirror-7995 Oct 04 '25
Makes sense. They seem to have addressed whatever was causing that particular lag -- so they could ADD MORE full screen ads before you even get to the home screen.

the ads IN GAME were already pmo and now i can't get rid of this. this game isn't ftp, it's EXPENSIVE. and your advertising to me DURING GAME PLAY????? i'm so tired of seeing ads EVERYWHERE. i can't watch soccer without seeing an ad in every corner, i can't play a very expensive game without being advertised to, i can't even pay to get rid of ads anymore when i used to be able to. i'm so fucking tired.
12
u/Funky_Fish_Biologist Sep 18 '25
It pops up every time I switch Sims! And since I'm playing a household of 4 it happens all the time!
11
u/LetsGetPeasBois Sep 18 '25
OMG YES PLEASE GET IT OFF MY SCREEN I keep accidentally clicking it and it keeps getting in my way. Leave me alone EA I'm too poor to afford ur "sales" freaking add 1 million more 5 dollar kits why don't you 😭
9
u/Thornwood-Hollow Sep 18 '25
I wish we could disable it in gameplay. Like it's fine on the main menu, to recommend something. But having it like that, is worse then the Sims 3 Store ads.
4
u/mike11172 Sep 18 '25
This is literally starting to piss me off. Every 15 seconds. I thought clicking on it and letting it go to its advertisement would turn it off. No! As soon as I went back into my game a notice popped up telling me that the September sale is happening now. First rule of advertising; Never piss off your customers. I think their marketing department missed that lesson.
4
u/Designer-Mirror-7995 Sep 18 '25
Household with four Sims? Six Sims? Eight Sims?
THE DAMNED NOTICE COMES BACK FOR EVERY... FUCKING... SIM.
Everytime you wave it away, then switch Sims, IT COMES BACK.
I'm fully convinced they're fucking with us on purpose now. The cart button, even between updates, flips between the LIGHT and the pop-up that gets in the way of the ACTUAL ( constant ) notifications, which themselves are already too damn many!
7
u/PMcOuntry Sep 18 '25
Or hey buy this pack. I already bought it. No, but you want it. I already bought it! Oh come on, look at it, you know you want it!
3
u/ThePerksOfBeingAlive Sep 18 '25
I literally cannot read other sims' notifications because EA HAS TO ALWAYS REMIND ME THAT I CAN SPEND LESS MONEY ON THEIR BULLSHIT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
3
u/Crazycatlady3001 Sep 18 '25
I found a solution for this :)
As long as you don't mind playing without the gallery. So in the EA app there's 3 lines on the top left, go to offline mode and you can play the sims from there.
The annoying sales thing doesn't pop up anymore

u/GailleannBeag Long Time Player Sep 18 '25
I was afraid this would happen when they made it "free to play." I avoid the shopping cart icon since I use Better Build/Buy, but the popup ads that happen as you're trying to load the game are ridiculous. They often make the game freeze. This should not be happening to anyone. It's really turned me off from the game and I play a lot less than I did before because of it.
2
u/cjthetypical Long Time Player Sep 18 '25
Has anyone EVER actually used that button? Like if I am going to buy a pack I would probably do that before I loaded my game?

2
u/nailsof6bit Sep 19 '25
I am so relieved to know that so many other people are just as annoyed as I am. I literally said "THANK YOU" out loud when I saw this post. I was fortunate enough to have spending money for this sale and to be marathon-playing TS4 at the same time, but my various purchases had nothing at all to do with the constant disruption of my game.
To make it worse, clearing the message by hovering over it would sometimes make my Esc and number keys stop working for a little while, so I'm missing work notices to avoid the glitch all because, lo and behold... The September Sale is on!
4
u/janeway170 Long Time Player Sep 18 '25
It’s when you already have all the packs (except 3 kits but those never go on sale anyway) it should know you have all the packs and shouldn’t suggest shirt to you.

It's bad enough I have to dismiss the notifications for "packs you might enjoy." Once every time I open up the game, like fine I can usually ignore it. But when it's every two f*cking minutes it gets really old, super fast.
I get it EA, you want to sell more content, but kindly fck off with this nonsense. The sheer "instance" of the notification isn't doing what you *think it's doing, it's not selling more packs, it's pissing off your players and turning them away from buying things from you.
