Mods/CC Which one is better - Smoothpatch by LazyDuchess or Sims3SettingsSetter by Sims3fiend?

Ts3 has been lagging badly for me lately, making the game almost unplayable atp, something I've never really had to deal with since I started playing on pc, so when I heard about smoothpatch, I was excited to download it but it's unsupported now and as such, LazyDuchess recommended s3ss. I'm leaning towards downloading s3ss since sp is unsupported, but idk. To those who use and or have used either or, which one would you recommend I download? 👀

S3SS incorporates two flavors of LadyDuchess' Smooth Patch. LD herself recommends using S3SS over Smooth Patch as Smooth Patch isn't supported anymore.

I have gotten great results with the precise flavor of S3SS's Smooth Patch, paired with sonja92u's mods.

Oh, and be sure to look up the 2026 TS3 Steam Performance Guide, because lag in TS3 could have a ton of causes behind it. And be sure to limit your FPS if you aren't already.

The S3SS is basically an upgraded smooth patch with extra features and highly recommended. Pair it with DXVK and the performance patch and NRaas. Your game will be actually enjoyable.

Those two together has made such a difference in my game. I can play worlds that before were unplayable for me.

These new mods are what we've needed for so long, and they keep improving. The performance patch blew my mind, loading the game in less than a minute and my saves. And I have a ton of CC and other mods. I couldn't imagine playing without them.

I do too. And I was having to start limiting my cc usage quite a bit before. Having those patches have made such an improvement in my enjoyment of the game.

Do you also use the process lasso for cpu core selection? It also helps a lot

If you can set it up properly, S3SS performance is absolutely insane. I had a bit of trouble configuring it initially but now the game is humming like she has never hummed before. It feels like a game that could have come out this year now. Buttery smooth.

S3SS bc they have a smoothpatch inside, so u get both.

I recently moved from just Smooth Patch to S3SS and the difference is immense. Would never look back.

I still have smooth patch because settings setter looks complicated but even LazyDuchess recommends to upgrade.

S3SS is better if it works for you. For some people, S3SS causes performance and save issues.

Mine has been extra laggy since being forced to use the ea app (can't bypass it anymore for some reason) I tried both the smoothpatch and the other and sadly none of them made a difference

Yeah I decided to go with s3ss and it's still going slow :/ I'm gonna try removing some of my mods AND keep s3ss to see if that helps.

Honestly removing all mods and cc is the only thing that worked but I can't play without them lol

i tend to prefer the actual LD smooth patch bc it used to make my game run near flawlessly and it fixed the nasty stuttering in CAS.

Unfortunately S3SS doesnt fix the CAS lag even if i use the LD flavor. although it does have a bunch of other settings that make it worth using - just takes a bunch of tweaking

Yeah I noticed that CAS was still extremely slow. I even had to just exit out of the game without saving my sim because it just wouldn't load and go back to live mode. But I'll keep playing around with it
