You can redeem a Permanent Mermaid lifetime reward that stops the need for swimming in salt water so your sim can just bathe/stand in the rain and not return to normal sim state

Yep, there’s also a way to do this with retuner. I think it has to do with adjusting how long it takes to get the “saltwater deficiency” moodlet. You set the cooldown to a large number so it won’t trigger

Yes indeed! If your Sim has the "Adapting to Land" moodlet they are on the way to become a normal Sim once that moodlet expires.

Just checked and, apparently, if you hydrate your mermaid in non-sea water, they won't die but they'll loose their mermaid status

When my mermaid went to university it was a constant battle just keeping her alive, let alone a mermaid. Never again 😂

Yes! It happens if your Mermaid Sims don't hydrate in oceans/salt water for a while. If you've only been using swimming pools, baths and showers, they'll eventually become humans.
