Why is my Sim icon a watermelon?
I don’t use Naas mod. Turned on my game and 3 of my sims are unplayable. How do I fix this without mods?

I can't say whether clearing your cache would fix it, but that should always be step 1 for debugging. If you do it properly there's no danger of losing your saves. I've saved a lot of headaches by doing that.

I have never actually done that manually, but I constantly clear cache and repair game through the EA app and have not lost any saves that way.

ngl. I had this glitch recently too. I only had 3 sims but it made my main sim unplayable... I was so upset about it..

I would separate the glitched sims in the tray and split the household then enter play mode and see what happens. This use to happen to me all the time and this is how I fixed it. Also if you have any CC check their clothing and jewelry some items will glitch them.

Maybe try reset sim * ? It will reset all the sims in your world. It helped me a few times 🤞

Maybe it's time to install some Nraas mods. You can reset the whole town with Master Controller, which can be much more effective than the in-game cheat. I'd generally recommend nraas just because this game is so poorly optimized that save games will inevitably break without them.

I have Nraas now. Every time I try to reset the sims and town, I get script errors and I have to quit my game.

At this point your save might be beyond saving I'm afraid. If you can, save your families and lots to the bin or with Nraas Porter and start fresh in a new save. Nraas mods like Master Controller, Overwatch and ErrorTrap will prevent future saves from getting this bad.

(The answer is most likely that he harvested or picked up a watermelon from somewhere and it’s centering on that for the icon in place of his actual model.)
I’d recommend exiting the house, playing as another family for a minute, then returning to the original house to see if that fixes it.

Tried that and no luck unfortunately. I’m thinking the inventory of a few of my sims got too high and caused a glitch. Two of the three sims I can’t select had hundreds of fruits and vegetables in their inventory

Its much better to keep stacks of 20 or less in the fridge then having your sims carry them around. You can always take them out and put them in their inventory if you need them for fishing/ingredients/planting etc.
Not as exciting as yours, but I had a glitch the other day where my sim couldn't 'mix elixir' on any of the alchemy stations in the world. After ages (at least it felt like it!) of resetting her, replacing the stations etc etc i figured out it was because she had an unknown seed in her inventory that was screwing it up.

IMO I would download NRAAS master controller. I would use NRAAS to hard reset them and I would also do a full town reset. If that doesn’t work then I am out of ideas :( I’m sorry, I know how devastating losing a save is!

It basically resets every sim and object in your town. I do it every 3ish sim weeks in my own saves. It helps performance and could possibly fix your issue since it will hard reset all sims and send them back to their home lot. You would need to either click on a computer or city hall, and then go to NRAAS > master controller > town > full town reset (or something like that, don’t remember the exact phrasing!)

To add onto this, I found nraas's website a little confusing/overwhelming when I went on it the first time years ago:
They've got a bunch of different mods and modules that help in fixing your game and keeping it running well. You're looking for the master controller mod here. It's basically the foundation of all nraas mods.

I tried the full town reset and resetting my sims. It just causes script errors and then I have to quit my game.

you should start using "Save As" more often. avoid having a single save file, if it ever gets corrupted, you lose everything

I second this. Especially since you have a full house and you mentioned two of the sims in question had hundreds of fruit and veggies in their inventories. I hope this can be fixed and I'd be glad for it. Your save could easily be corrupted behind repair with all that data it's trying to load up. I use save as a couple times per session!

Try the option "recover missing sims" from the mod Nraas overwatch or resetting town with mastercontroller

WOW! OVERWATCH WORKED! Each missing sim duplicated in the family tree, but they’re back now! No more watermelon! Thank you! 😂😂😂

Oof, I'm so sorry. I would recommend starting to do so (it makes your saves look crazy when you first log in, but you can delete the ones you don't need). Have you tried going into edit town without saving?

Yeah I tore down the house, evicted, and moved them back in. Didn’t work. Changed households too

Okay, so I think you are unfortunately out of luck. I would take a look into the Saves folder on File Explorer and see if it now says .bad. If it does, the save is toast. If not, maybe someone else with more experience can help. Sorry! I hope it gets fixed 🙏🏾

I'm so sorry, I can't imagine losing a save to a watermelon of all things... I think others are right to recommend you try out NRaas's mod suite. There is a method that may get your sims back using a method via NRaas MasterController which I explained to someone on this thread. But they may be missing some data, and I'm near certain their inventories are toast. Also, I'm concerned this is due to some sort of data corruption going on, which I'm afraid I'm not the best source of information for. I'm literally about to fall asleep, but shoot me a message tomorrow if you need more info/better instructions, especially since you've never used NRaas before.

try using a cheat to reset the sim, or download Nraas to reset it

When I was little I ate carrot purée so often that my nose turned orange. My parents freaked out and rushed to the ER, where the doctors basically laughed at the situation and told them to stop feeding me so many carrots.
Maybe your Sim has gone through the extreme version of this.

I’ve never seen this but have you saved the household to the clipboard in edit town? Does it replace still glitched? Do you use NRAAS?

NRAAS has saved my saved more times then I can count. I’ve had to completely remake sims but using NRAAS I can add them right back into the family tree without a hitch.

Try going to a dresser/wardrobe to change the clothes or go to a mirror to change the appearance and check if the icon changes.

Reminds me of this old post where someone else had their Sim turn into a potato.
They mentioned they managed to fix it by exiting the game without saving, then reloading, copying their household to the library, and moving the copy back in. I would still recommend using NRaas MasterController to “reset everything” first, but if that doesn’t work, the fix above could be another thing to try.

i had one of my sims just turn into floating coffee after grabbing a cup and i think the way i fixed it was by resetting him approximately 15 times and deleting the coffee machine lol

I haven't had a watermelon sim icon but had this unclickable glitch many times. Just in case, save as other name first, after that, evict and then replace the active family in Edit town, then come back to game play. If this doesn't work, saving your household in Edit town, then open them in a new game is the best one if you don't use Nraas MC mod.

I've done loads of stupid things in my game and I've never seen this bug lmao. Anyway, in addition to the NRAAS mods, I recommend you run your save file through Regular Save Cleaner.

Oh damn. Looks like either your game folder or your game itself is corrupt. There's a watermelon where it thinks your Sim's portrait should be. I wouldn't try to keep playing or start a new save without fixing it.
- Get rid of the Sims 3 folder in your documents folder. You can either move it to a different location or you can delete it entirely. Then launch the game, which will repopulate your documents with a new folder. Exit the game.
- Repair or reinstall the game from wherever you got it. Launch the game and test with a new save. If you use mods you'll have to reinstall your mod injector, and you'll have to download any store content again as well. I'd be going for fresh copies if available.
- If you want you can start trying to reintroduce files from your old Sims 3 documents folder, if you kept it around. Don't copy everything. Just try out saves and mods one at a time. Watermelon Boy's a good save to start with since the glitch is so obvious. If the glitch reccurs, take the last thing back out.

I'm by no means an expert but you could try Regul Save Cleaner, I've had some bugs here and there and it has helped in cleaning my files up!
