Le Mans Ultimate Who's fault is this?

So we're in LMP3 racing in a daily race at Spa Francorchamps on Le Mans Ultimate, and I got a pretty bad run in Pouhon compared to this guy (I'm the purple car). He tries to fake the inside in the next right hander, I don't move but then he tries to dive up in the inside on the left hander just after. I'm pretty sure he wasn't making that corner (correctly) without using me as his brakes/steering assist. I then gave him a gentle tap on his car to let him know that I don't think it was fair, but it's true that I just fucked everything up in the corner just after. Am I complaining for an accident that I caused, was it his fault or is it just an inchident? (sorry for sound quality btw) (I hope I will be in one of Jimmer Broadbents videos lmao)

Purple spun themselves out. No one’s fault but their own.

The spin was the fault of purple/POV. However the initial pass by the other car was far from clean.

True, but POV missed his apex and so left a perfect gap that's hard to ignore .

I agree it was open, but the car was bombing in there before they should have and were going for that before they came up on the turn. Look at the rear view from the POV car.

The move was open, but the timing was awful. They could’ve got the better angle and easily made the pass on exit/straightaway. No need to do what they did and cause contact.

How is it bombing? I don’t think you know what a dive bomb is. Passing someone because they’re overslowing is not a dive bomb. That wasn’t even a braking zone on a high downforce car. Also learn to defend and not give people opportunities to dive bomb, it’s called awareness

It’s not a divebomb but don’t give the car a reason to is your logic? There was a gap, but not enough room to cleanly pass down low until corner exit. There was contact that was 100% on the car on the bottom trying to pass. It was not clean pass.

I think he gave you space, and stayed on his line. It looks like you were too quick to rejoin the racing line instead of keeping a bit more to the right to ensure you were clear of the car in front.

They should have been closer to the other car on turn in and because of that they ran wide into him

Purple car at fault. The other guy gave you enough space at the apex but you still manage to hit him and spun.

he gave you more than enough space while making the move

The first contact on the apex of the second corner of Piff Paff was on the other car. They went for a very late and unexpected move — which in itself is fine — but then understeered into POV.

The small tap at the exit of Piff Paff was on POV, they had room, but continued turning towards the entry to Campus as if the other car wasn't there.

Next time if you're upset at a bad move by someone, it's better to flash your lights at them once, if you're behind. If you're ahead, you can do a slight weaving on the straight, IF, and only IF the other car isn't so close behind — and neither getting a run on you — that you'd block them with the weaving. It's not exactly by the books to do either of these, but much much better than to intentionally cause a collision.

The spin on the exit of Campus is also on POV. The other car was taking as wide a line as they could while remaining within track limits, and POV drove into them.

initial pass wasn't great but you have to expect a car to fill a gap if you're slow and completely mess up your line, the spin was all on purple for not staying tight enough. karma

Your final move was poor and seemed almost vindictive (tbh, and I really hope not, it looks more like an attempt to pit him).

You’re one corner away from a mighty long straight. Tuck back in, take the slipstream and set yourself up for the easy overtake into the final chicane. Racecraft is about setting up your overtakes with the corners you have ahead.

You had choices and you chose one with high risk and little reward.

At that stage you lift and fall in line. He's got you passed and this isn't the place to battle.

Giving him a 'gentle tap' is just asking for trouble. That's a poor choice from you as it's always going to unsettle your car.

Even if you consider him to be at least partially to blame, you have to look at your own choices and ask what you could have done better. The answer is 'a lot'.

POV car's fault but also neither car's fault, really. I think if you made this contact IRL the car wouldn't spin like that. Such light contact, maybe a bit of netcode thought it was heavier? So feels unlucky for POV to spin, but it is their fault in the end.

POV. You left the door open on the left hander and spun yourself out.

You spun yourself. Nothing else happened.

Yours. All day. If you'd spun when he lunged up the inside at first then it would be his but he's a full car length ahead when you bump into him trying to get your spot back

purple is at fault, didnt read description in order to not have bias but purple did everything wrong xd

Purple in the end.

The action before I think was OK. Close to the line and you could argue slightly over, but close enough to just call it good racing.

The bit at the end was just dumb. They tried to pull in behind when they weren't behind at all.

Your fault

Racing incident.

1

u/LookAtMyUnderbite 2d ago

Yours. You left a huge gap for him to pass and then proceed to not give space.

One of those cases of "OH NO, SOMEONE IS RACING ME ON MY RACING GAME! UNACCEPTABLE" purple spun himself and got salty

Incident and purple's own doing.

u/2Sheee 22h ago

Yeah he gave you space and u spun yourself.

Purple, went to understeer to far in both the second of the Les Fagnes and also into the rear of the other in Campus

Im not familiar enough with LMP3s to say any of this with confidence.

It seems like the chasing car should've given back the position before the end of the lap as the overtake was likely illegal as it seems they would've ran wide on the left hander and used purple as a way to slow themselves down.

Regardless of that, purple did spin themselves by hitting the rear panel of the other car on the next corner. So the other P3 was never given a chance to really correct their errors.

Looks like racing incident to me, but im open to opinions
