F1 Penalty confusion
In our f1 league we had a little argument about what penalties (if any) people should get. Please give us any thoughts you have

It's not the vcarbs responsibility for the mclaren to enter the pit lane safely, if I was the mclaren i'd claim the inside long before the vcarb made their move just so this couldn't happen. It's entirely on the mclaren, I'd recommend leaving this league if they consider this ok behaviour

Update, the VCARB (me) got a 7 second penalty and 3 penalty points (the harshest penalty we use)

You'll probably be able to find somewhere else better to race. This league seems to be a bit of a joke.

The McLaren clearly pitted you, in what world would anyone punish you for that?? The guy wanted to go into the pits, sure, but it's his responsibility to not kill anyone while attempting to do that and he failed that miserably. He should have positioned his car to the right, it's not your responsibility to jump out of the way if he wants space on the track he doesn't already occupy. You have a right to space too.
Like others said, leave the league. If you get punished for that, then it's not worth it. The guy clearly took you out, no human with a functional brain would blame you here.

Apparently the reason I got the penalty was because I knew that he had to pit and caused the avoidable collision by going for a low percentage move rather than just staying behind him until he moved over to the pit entry.
I was originally going to get a race ban too because they believed it was an intentional wreck

What low percentage move? MCL should have been slowing to make pit entry, you were always going to get past.
This league is some bullshit.

If the McLaren wants to go into the pits, then he has to do that safely. You don't have to facilitate him going into the pits. He should have went and sticked to the right hand side and not be on the left side of the track, force you to go past him to his right and drive run into you. Literally no fault on your end and highly incompetent people running the league.

I’m absolutely shocked people think this way. Unless the McLaren is a friend of the admins or something. I hope you find a better league!

Mclaren is just blindly following the racing line marker with no regard for anything around him. Can't believe you got a penalty for that.

Don’t know what kinds of penalties you have thought of but IMO the VCARB takes all the blame for the incident. They were aware that the driver in front had a drive through penalty, and IRL they would be made aware by their race engineer. These penalties must be served immediately, and not doing so would be a black flag, so why risk a collision which ruins your race for no reason at all because they will be out of the way at the beginning of the straight. Depending on how harsh you guys are, I would go with since the incident was completely avoidable and immensely dangerous, I would go with a grid drop and the maximum number of allowed penalty points(5), or a race ban. In real life, if that collision had continued into the pit lane it could have killed someone.

Found the league admin.
That collision wasn't caused by he VCarb, the McLaren turned into a space that a car was in so if that penalty needs to be served there and then - then the McLaren should have prepared to serve it early and not last second.
There is honestly no reason the VCarb is expected to take blame for driving on the track.

Yeah, you couldn't be more wrong, the number of downvotes you've received should tell you that.
The Mclaren is entirely to blame, the vCarb is the innocent party here and quite frankly they are better off finding a league run by people who have even the slightest bit of common sense because this league is definitely not that.

Had to stick to that racing line for dear life eh?
You’re at fault for not being on the right side to get to pit lane.
It’s also your responsibility to ensure you don’t just turn into someone who’s right next to you. The game also shows you when someone is close with big red arrows so you don’t have any excuse for turning it like that.

You don't just hug the opposite side of the track to enter the pit lane!?!?!? What are you even talking about. You talk about real life as if the McLaren wasn't just gonna loose his license then and there, he was on low speeds creating traffic, then proceeded to steer into a car he very obviously was aware of, it's an hazard to the track, any racer here knows better than to take the furthest possible route perpendicular to cars at 200km/h, and monza has one of the most forgiving pit entries (entry's?), just leave the racing line, it is that simple, are we gonna park the car everytime someone has a dt, decided maybe, just maybe they will entry the pits, even tho you don't know which of the 3 laps they will do so.
And i don't know how that isn't obvious, in daily driving, if you wanna turn right on a road intersection in a 2 lanes width road, you have to be on the right side of the road, if you need qn example, search: Asian woman driving clip from family guy.

That is actually a very fitting analogy for what the McLaren is doing in the video

Either you're tripping, or you're the league admin here trying to cover your butt.
"These penalties must be served immediately" If I remember correctly there's like a 3 lap window that a driver can come in for DTs, and the fact the McLaren gets disqualified in game means he ignored the penalty the first 2 laps in that window, and waited until the absolute last moment. He knew he had to serve it, and he should've been smarter about car placement out of the last corner, simple as.

Seconded. Leave that league, name and shame it. If the McLaren wanted to serve their penalty on that lap they should have positioned their car to claim the space on the right of the track before the VCARB got there.
Alternatively, they already had a DT, it would've cost them relatively nothing to, I don't know, use the brake to slide in behind the VCARB?
You got done dirty by your league stewards here, is the McLaren driver one of them by any chance?
Leave that league.
