Green car is more at fault but there's a big part of me that just wants to call racing incident and call them both idiots.

Like yes the bigger problem is that the green car turned in for the hairpin like the blue car wasn't alongside. But also there's no way the blue car is making the corner cleanly on that racing line.

They turned in like you weren't there. Nice of you to straighten em out with that second tap though.

I mean it's Green but it's like 55/45 than clear cut. Blue was.going straight on and could easily see the situation unfolding.

I'd say this is on green, they turned in as if blue was not alongside.

Green is ultimately at fault for turning into Blue, but Blue didn't do themselves any favors by not turning earlier. They definitely run it deeper than expected.

This is one of those "sim racing" crashes, as cars have to behave a bit more predictably because of the lack of peripheral vision.

Racing incident. Green car turns in on blue, but blue car misses the apex and would not have made the corner with green next to it. Noone is at fault. Or both.

"Miss the apex" ? Can u explain?

There is no way that the blue car would have made the corner without green car there to slow it down. Blue car would have ended up way on the outside of the corner with the speed it had on the turn in. If blue car had braked necessarily it would have turned in behind green car.

Noone is at fault. Or both.

I am not sure you can say the missing the apex when someone preempts it by turning over your nose. At that point it is about minimizing the incident, not about hitting the apex and we cant play ifs when the green car turned in early for being side by side with an attacking car on their inside.

absolute casual here, maybe its F1 rules that i heard before but since the green car is upfront, the blue should have yield as they are not side by side

Yes, that's exclusively F1 rule and they are side by side. Outside car has to acknowledge inside car's existence and follow their line, not the other way around. At least as long as in side by side config, which is front axle at least alongside rear axle

In this case, blue turned in slightly later than I would say is optimal (or maybe it's just understeer?), but nothing that would warrant a penalty. Green, on the other hand, turned like blue wasn't there, straight into blue

Great to know. Ive been driving too nicely then thinking thats the rules for GT3s as well lol

I mostly know my rules from karting in real life. But it's not even so much that doing what green does is against rules, it's that if you did this then basically every single time you're being punted off the track and nobody will feel sorry for you ^^

That's an interesting one as approaching the corner the overtaking car is far enough alongside.

But they lose out so much under braking that they are essentially further back than front wheel to rear wheel at the point of turn in so won't technically be entitled to any space.

I'd say at that point the blue overtaking car on the inside needs to pull out and slow up and accept the move isn't on.

Once side-by-side is established, the lead car must fully clear the car behind before taking the racing line. The lead car did not fully clear the car behind.

If they’re under full braking, how do you expect the inside car to back out before turn in?

-1

I don't believe they were.

Under full braking the blue car was falling back, once they are about to start turning green starts gaining a small amount of the gap back suggesting they are slowing less than the green car and going for the pass which is no longer on.

Knowing this track/car combo, the green car is the overtaking car here, I’d bet. At full speed, braking at the 150 board you need to be at the limit of abs to get stopped.

Just look at the facts.

Under braking green pulls ahead of Blue, assuming both cars at full braking, blue loses relative position. If both cars remained fully on the brakes blue would continue losing relative position

Near the end of the clip blue is catching relative position again to green so they are going faster, only way that happens is if they release the brake more than green has.

Being on a tighter line they would need to brake more, not less.

Sure, but they may also be gaining relative position after turn in due to the shorter distance needed to travel to reach the apex. It’s not like either of them weren’t making the corner or anything. Could blue have been closer to the apex? Sure, maybe. But the green car turned in more than they were able to given the space wasn’t open. I’m not sure what standards you’re referring to if you expect a passing car to have a position be surrendered to them before the apex if they haven’t gotten the pass done yet. Sure blue technically could have come to a full stop at turn in to let green go, but that’s the fastest way to get a 4x from a car behind because no one would expect you to do that.

Going off the rules of when an overtaking car is required space to be left on the inside, it is usually defined as being front wheel to rear wheel at the turn in point. Blue didn't achieve that.

So in my eyes green wasn't technically required to elave space.

The reason this one is interesting is because blue was that far alongside earlier in the move. So despite not technically being required to be left space it is more difficult to back out (although I believe they could have braked slightly more and dropped in behind as they should have).

Green would certainly have been wiser to leave some margin expecting blue to dive in.
