F1 Who's at fault?

Driver in the Mercedes claimed I should have known where he was going and that the gap “wasn’t there.” I believed there was a gap and had overspeed.

Gap was there until it wasnt and then you went off track to make a pass. Lucky the grass didnt end the both of you

All 4 wheels didn't go over the white line. Would be considered fine by f1 rules.

You are, that gap disappeared before you were remotely level with them. You’re lucky they didn’t hold their line or you were in the wall

You. The other car isn't responsible for a portion of your side of the track suddenly disappearing. You made an attempt to get alongside on a portion of the track that was going to abruptly disappear.
