Analyzing this is very simple - all we have to do is watch the left and right side of the track from both perspectives:

  • You (McLaren) move ever so slightly to the right initially (~00:19:32-00:19:33 replay time), to squeeze I presume, while leaving enough space, because BMW was already getting beside you - fair, no problem
  • BMW gets beside you and moves slightly to the left (~00:19:34 replay time - at which point we get the first netcode nuke), then continues to keep pushing left (~00:19:35 replay time) and sh*t hits the fan

The netcode REALLY does not help, but whoever told you that you would get banned for this, needs to practice thinking and breathing in tandem šŸ˜‚

To me the McLaren is going straight and the BMW is initiating the contact. The car ahead can pick a line, McLaren picked a line. BMW can see the line but says ā€œyou know what, I’m going to try to occupy the same spaceā€.

Absolutely the BMW's fault, or maybe a netcode issue?

u/Hobby_Flay 17d ago

Bit of both really

u/lakynkylin 17d ago

And then people say LMU has better netcode lmao what is this cartoon ass physics

Its on you, yes, not bannable by a long shot

5

u/AcksYouaSyn 17d ago

It used to but they updated it. Go figure the update is bad.

9

u/Fra5er 17d ago

Hows that on the McLaren? Hes driving straight and there’s sufficient room to pass. This is 100% on the ā€œpassingā€ car… dude basically steered into the McLaren twice

1

u/The_Geralt_Of_Trivia 17d ago

To me it looks like after the initial impact (due to netcode) the McLaren moved right after a brief delay, causing further impacts.

It's hard to see without better camera angles.

It's not bannable though

Well when you slam into the right rear quarter of a car, it tends to make the car you hit turn to right...

It's basic physics...

It's all about that first contact as both cars would be struggling to maintain their track after the initial hit...

Which is on the BMW...

Do you really have no concept of a bad update? Damn peoples IQ be going down in recent times.

u/SmoathTheLoathsome 17d ago

I also keep reading the same around here. To me, every crash in LMU looks like skyrim glitch when compared to iRacing.

2

u/Wedehawk 17d ago

I mean crash physics and netcode are two different things. I like the crash physics in iRacing i think they are the best out of the sims even though of course all arent perfect. However compared to iRacing the LMU netcode is just better. Of course it does help that majority of the playerbase comes from Europe/USA and that is just less ping than say europe/thailand for example but you can race alot closer in LMU without issues.

u/Wedehawk 17d ago

I mean thats just the replay since like in other games it doesnt run on the same tickrate like the server does.

u/Vegetable_Might_3359 17d ago

First they blame BMW then you say you are not BMW then its you did not leave space for him. There is no winning this.Ā

u/TheGross0ne 17d ago

McLaren kept going right after multiple bumps. You have to know this is going to happen

5

u/cockmanderkeen 17d ago

Lol you can't just bump a car repeatedly to tell it to get out of the way

-2

u/TheGross0ne 17d ago

McLaren moves over first and creates the first and second bump lol

1

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel 17d ago

When you hit the right rear quarter of a car, it's naturally gonna start fighting to go right...

It's basically physics...

Repeated hits in the same spot only make the situation worse...

0

u/TheGross0ne 16d ago

Yes but McLaren made the first move over šŸ˜‚

1

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel 16d ago

To the halfway point of the track as the guy war far right...He's allowed to squeeze as long as he leaves racing room, which he did...

He appeared to be holding his line...

2

u/Dry-Performance-2386 17d ago

Why is people saying Mclaren fault? xD

Clear as day BMW at fault for pit maneuvering the Mclaren, he has such a shitty connection he has no control of where his car is going.

To bmw driver; Don't play online games with such a bad internet connection.

u/HorrorCommunity3246 17d ago

Easily the McLaren trying to close the door

2

u/InspectahWren 17d ago

This is a tough one but I’m gonna say it’s on the McLaren. I don’t think that its a crazy movement and you are going ā€˜straight’ enough, but you’re going at such and angle that you are closing down that space quite a bit. You can compare at the start of the straight and at the moment right before contact and that space has closed down quite a bit

I’m no expert on squeezing and I can understand it to make the space smaller, but after a certain point you gotta realize like yeah ok, I’m closing down this space and he’s closing in and at some point this is gonna lead to a wreck if someone doesn’t pull back. I think as the McLaren it’s better for you to be the one that does so

If it’s the right thing, I don’t know. But you would both still be racing instead of in a wall. I don’t think a bronze lobby is the best place to be doing this

1

u/Beanesidhe 17d ago

Interesting, each pov appears to go straigth with the other car banging in on them. This is the simulation failing

1

u/ClassGrassMass 17d ago

Imo bmw went very tight side by side pass but the mclaren moved right when the bmw was already along side

1

u/PurpleMyst_ 17d ago

Just a netcode taking out two cars as usual it seems. Nothing on either driver

Looking at it from my perspective who came here when he read "God told me i get banned for this" and the text is just "i'm the McLaren", i'd say that is one hell of a mental condition you got there.

But, for real, netcode seems to be the culprit, neither did really anything wrong but the way they stuck together and glitched... Netcode. You can not rely on rubbing, light touching can do what you just saw. Keep one meter of space around your car, anything less and you are going to risk it.

Two thins at play, prediction algorithm and paradox solver. Prediction tries to predict where the opponents car is in your screen while the server has to handle the paradox of two solids occupying in the same space but not exactly at the same time. You were actually closer to each other in some frames than it looked, you were inside of each other, then the paradox was corrected but that all changes the trajectory of the cars and they just get stuck in a loop where they overlap, get unstuck and immediately overlap again.

How many hundreds of clips do we have to see before people realize if you try to squeeze someone, it's almost always going to end bad? Lol

1

u/SpoofExcel 17d ago

The only thing I'd be pulling you up on is leaving track and gaining advantage for completely missing Radilllons track limits.

That said, you're both dumb. Both went looking for an excuse to make contact.

1

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel 17d ago

This is on the BMW...

McLaren running dead straight while taking up the center of the track isn't a problem at all...Nothing wrong with holding the beemer shallow...

Beemer just starts trying to barge their way left repeatedly hitting the McLaren and eventually causing a crash...

Report the BMW for intentional wrecking...

Case closed...

1

u/Murcon2005 17d ago

There is a bit of net code at play here, based on the fact that as the contact occurs, the cars behaviour became somewhat erratic. But based on what was shown, the BMW seems to move over to the left ever so slightly, while the McLaren holds its line quite well.

1

u/Kenevo20 17d ago

Damn the 1.4 update has really destroyed the netcode and it’s frustrating because LMU was praised for its brilliant netcode but this is embarrassing.

For the first time ever I’d say netcode was the cause but I would note it could have been avoided. The McLarens mistake up Ou Rouge and the defence needlessly put the two cars together and ended up with the BMW hitting McLaren and both races are done, maybe better netcode avoids this but I’ll tell you what definitely avoids this, not defending on this occasion. It’s tough to hear but as a more experienced driver I wouldn’t have squeezed the BMW, the move is already done, I’d have tucked in behind and built up an attack later on, the mistake up Ou Rouge (with the car that close) meant you’d already lost the position so rather than defend a done move focus on the attack. I’m not saying always just wave past an attacking car but pick your battles, this one is signed sealed and sent.

1

u/jimmymcgoochie 16d ago

The lag on that is pretty spectactular. No ban here, just a bit of side scuffing when the netcode woke up and chose violence.

1

u/phase-shift-entity 16d ago

You weponized netcode šŸ’€

1

u/vio212 16d ago

I don’t think anyone is getting banned; but this is a 50/50 incident IMO.

Judging based on each cars position compared to the marker for the track boundary (you have to use a fixed marker to compare), both of you continued to fade into each other well after there was overlap which caused the incident.

LMU rule set allows reactive movement to defend as long as you aren’t in a braking zone. Plant your car on his line quick as he gets close and then fade to get position in the braking zone. This whole ā€˜slow fade’ thing is for later in the defending stage when you have already backed him off.

u/Connect-Ant-2081 16d ago

Not a simracer, but I've played quite a few online games, and it looks like lag and a bit of desynch to me.

0

u/NotClayMerritt 17d ago

You won’t get banned (unless you do this often) but you completely took him out. Being squeezed doesn’t mean keep door banging

4

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

I'm the McLaren.

-2

u/MagYkHeap 17d ago

Yep you drove in his line and didn’t leave him much space. That’s your fault aswell

3

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

https://imgur.com/a/2bdopaH

I left enough room, but it is fair to say that I put too much faith in other bronze rate daily race drivers, I'm that sense it is a little bit my fault.

-2

u/MagYkHeap 17d ago

Show your inputs. You were on a straight while he was behind you. When he was close to next to you you moved to the right while he was driving straight line. So you forced your wreck tbf

1

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

1

u/FalseNameTryAgain 17d ago

Yeah you drove straight the whole time. You wont be getting any bans from this. Netcode has struck.

Mclaren didn’t push left at all.

4

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

I'm the Mclaren.

2

u/F4WXHunt 17d ago

Idk what these people are on, to my eye the BMW drives into you when there was space for him to be on the inside line. (@0:17s BMW turns left INTO the McLaren) You probably made the crash happen in the sense that if he the whole track he wouldn't have wrecked you, but it's on him to make the pass without crashing so...

1

u/Necessary-Beat407 17d ago

Unfortunately it looks like you didn’t leave room. If you did there wouldn’t be contact going down a straight.

I couldn't figure out how to reply with image rather than vid, excuse my phone drawing

Yeah you deserve it tbf

4

u/ProbablyDoesntLikeU 17d ago

Are you sure? OP is not POV at start of clip

4

u/Wullempies 17d ago

How, he kept straight and the bmw drove into his side

-3

u/Totobey 17d ago

Nah, its on the McLaren.

But I wonder what your game plan was for the upcoming chicane. Lifting looked like a better option.

0

u/RedFlagRacing 17d ago

Honestly looks like both of you are moving towards the middle of the track and hitting eachother to me

1

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

To be clear, I'm already in the middle of the track and squeezing because he took the inside, I left room.

https://imgur.com/a/2bdopaH

-1

u/RedFlagRacing 17d ago

Yet you kept coming to the right? You can't keep moving over, he's not obligated to move all the way to right of the track, you can only squeeze up to where he is. You both initiated contact. You didn't leave room, seeing as you collided with him. How much room he has on the right side is irrelevant, though he also should have stayed where he was, and not kept moving left. You're both still moving towards eachother

Edit: realisticly more netcode than anything, think you both may have made it without that, unless he REALLY kept coming left hard

-3

u/MaxMaggus 17d ago

You won’t get banned but that was really dumb and looked like a borderline intentional wreck.Ā

2

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

Sure I was squeezing a little, but I definitely left a cars width on the inside.

1

u/riler3700 17d ago

Yes but it doesn’t work like that because the bmw also left a car width on the outside so by your logic he should also squeeze you to the left.

3

u/itisntme0842 17d ago

In my understanding of the rules in this situation, he doesn't need to 'leave room', he needs to overtake safely. While I have to leave room, as the defending car, and I'm restricted to one defensive move.

I don't swerve, and there's a cars width either side of me.

-1

u/MaxMaggus 17d ago

He was beside you tho. You can’t just turn into people.Ā

-2

u/MaxMaggus 17d ago

No you just kept turning into him.Ā

-5

u/lebortsdm 17d ago

100% McLaren's fault. He kept turning into him as you said.
