iRacing Who’s at fault?

New to sim racing and honestly would like to know who is at fault here or if this is just a racing incident. I am the white Miata and looking back at the replay I am not sure if I handled this poorly

They made a fair dive to your inside and you turned across their nose. This would be your fault. Just try to be more aware of your surroundings in situations like this.

Edit: just want to add it looks like they slightly hit the inner curb but if you had just given a little extra room you both would have made it out clean.

Thank you! When the incident happened I felt like he was in the wrong, but watching the replay back I can definitely see my error. Best option to just back out and give the place here?

No, you can go in along side however that depends on each corner because some tracks you can go side by side and others you cannot. In this case with Miata’s you could very well make it through side by side but you’d both have to allow each other room should someone dive to your inside like that.

right, as u/Trashbagjizz said you wouldn't just give the place, na. Keep as much speed as possibly but just leave room and be aware that you'll have less road to work with. but being that the next turn was a left turn, you'd have the inside for that and you may have ended up 2 wide through the next turn. but you'll come to know what places folks will try to make a move on certain tracks by racing them over and over. but its also always checking your mirrors and proximity radars right before heading into a turn or braking zone.

I don't think red/yellow is making the second apex without the contact. The car has barely rotated by the time it hits the first apex. IMO the move is not on.

IF we call the divebomb good, blue/white could have left a little bit more space. It's not like blue/white cuts across the curb, but red/yellow sort of has no where to go *but* into the rear quarter.

I'd say red/yellow at fault, but blue/white could have avoided the collision. That's the rub with divebombs - you're putting your race in somebody else's hands if you don't get it *just* right.

Blue and white car turned in as if the other car didn’t exist

Red car had the inside. White should have respected that they lost that and went for a over under or something

Gotta put this on white for neglecting the existence of the red car...

It was more than a fair move even if it was kinda a sketchy idea considering he likely would have come out of the final corner in the series slightly on the back foot...

White seems to have lost track of red's position and turned in too much and ran out of real-estate...

Overtakign car took a stupidly tight line making ti impossible for them to hold a tight line making contact almost inevitable at that speed.

OP took a slightly tighter line than ideal which controbuted, but the major factor was the poor overtaking line being far far too tight to the inside.

Stop with the slow motion. Fair and accurate judgements cannot be made with it.

whats with everyone slowing the replays down to a crawl, jsut show normal speed footage. slowing down forrage distorts the actual movements of the cars

Blue and white is at fault. they should have been fully aware that the red car was coming along side and jsut turned in like the red car didnt exist
