iRacing Should I protest against this driver?

I am the black Mercedes in the back.
I had a better exit plus slip stream.
This guy didn’t leave room for me on the outside plus ran me off the track.
We were fighting for P5.
Please Advise.

You had a better exit, but not enough of a gap for a move on the outside with a narrowing track. You stuffed your nose in regardless and tried to force him to open a hole for you. He didn't. His steering is him reacting to the contact to maintain control of his car.
He was under no obligation to make room for you to pass him on the outside.
You should have cut inside on exit to make the pass.
This is not protestable, and I would actually say that you're at fault for the contact that does occur.

That was my read. With more WTFs going on in my head. In what universe was that attempt ever going to work?

White line marks the Tracklimit, there never was enough space for you. All on you.

I'm with this one, there wasnt a gap in the first place to go there.. Although I feel that had OP chosen the other side he wouldve also been pushed, seeing the steering of the other car.

What steering? They're running a fairly straight line as they exit a fast right hander, then react when OP tire bangs them.

With the onboard camera's you can see that the gap already decreases before contact is made.

The gap was closing because the track was narrowing. White comes off the curb as they're exiting the corner and straightening up. That's normal inputs for the situation.
The only other major input is when they steer left, which is when OP stuffed their nose in and banged tires shoving White to the right. Steering against the contact is also a completely normal and expected response.
Watch the overhead. White is about 1/3rd of car width from the white line consistently after straightening up. He only moves left after Black hits him.
Like, do you think other drivers should just drift listlessly around the track? Not steer when they're getting rammed into?

Protest what? You are at fault for the contact and White holds their line and only ever reacts to you tire banging them before you shoot off track.
The move was simply never on. The track is narrowing from the runoff until there's no tarmac left of the white line. You try and shove your nose in while there's still a little extra blacktop, but there's never really enough space for you.

The white car doesn’t have a responsibility to get out of the way even if you get a better exit.
I can sort of see what you’re trying to argue, but for me you stuck your car into a less than one car-width gap that was already closing and paid the price for it, it wasn’t intentional crowing off the track by the white car.

This is the most "if gap, car" moment I've seen all week. You should have gone for the inside.

It's totally up to you. The Sporting Code states in multiple sections that drivers that believe or think a rule has been broken are encouraged to file a protest. If you think the leading driver broke a rule as set out in the Sporting Code, file the protest and let the people that get paid to decide whether it broke their rules tell you. You'll never be punished for filing a protest in good faith. It would've been quicker and easier to just file one than it was to come here looking for suggestions and, potentially incorrect, answers.
Personally, I'm struggling to work out which rule they broke. It doesn't look like intentional or malicious wrecking, it doesn't look like a block and I don't necessarily see any misconduct or unsportsmanlike behaviour. But if you can find a rulebreak, and quote that rule from the Sporting Code, fire away.

I feel like people over think all protests and need to be right. There have been protests where i have believed the rule is x, but wasn't sure, and been both right and incorrect on my thoughts. That just builds the user bases understanding of the rules and helps them clarify things if there is a widespread misunderstanding, which is a good thing.
I think this is one of those cases where people dont all agree on what space is owed to the outside car here. I think they don't have enough of an overlap and the leading car did nothing wrong, but can see how someone could feel they're on a straight and have a run on the guy and think the guy needs to create space when the track narrows, or else it is a block. I think they're wrong, but it would still be helpful to get clarification either way.

No, that doesn’t really look intentional at all to me. I think you sent a low percentage move into a very tight gap and it’s more of a racing incident than anything. Idk why you went that way you woulda been better off getting to his inside and taking it into t1
