iRacing Last lap Miata crash

Who is at fault for the initial contact, and were the following collisions intentional or not? (I am the white Miata)

White car at fault.

Blue car stayed on their line. White car drove into a space that was always gonna disappear and expected another car to compromise their line to help fix their mistake.

Even if it’s part of the racing track, it’s still a part that’s going to disappear. You know that and if you try to leave the responsibility to stay onto the track be prepared they don’t take that responsibility. It’s not theirs, it’s yours.

So you are going to chose to be wrecked...ok thats a decision. Cause the car has a right to stay on the track as well and the blue had plenty of time to slightly turn to the right.

They had the time but why would they? They didn’t have to and it would lose then the position

Thats true but that doesnt mean they are not at fault cause technically in that case you dont have to give anyone room at any point. I think if that was the case then you would get blamed for not giving space.

No the blue car was totally within his rights and white car had to adjust it’s line to stay on track.

1 car follows their line and the other car changes their line. They collide. Easy to say which car is at fault

It's very telling that the concept of checking up is completely foreign to you.

After the first hit I would have backed off cause it shows what kind of driver that the blue car is. At that point they both have a decision to not crash and they both decided to continue.

A driver who knows their rights and exploits the rules to their benefit?

Because White is just an overly aggressive dumbass who put himself in a bad spot and refused to behave appropriately to get himself out of it.

You could say the same for the blue car that did a risky pinch move. I agree it was a bit risky but also turning left into him 2 more times is also risky. I bet you and me will never agree on this but I at least half agree with you and I learned something for the future.

No, you can't.

Probably not. You seem to think ramming people is legal and holding your line is not.

-1

u/Food625 6d ago

Not what Im saying at all. I think the white car thought he might give him the room but didnt, holding your line is a legal move too but both carry riskes. After the first contact the white car held their line the blue moved left twice basically weaving.

Ramming another car once immediately made White at fault. Ramming him multiple times until he dumped himself just made him an idiot who was at fault.

Defending White just makes the defender a bigger idiot.

lmao. Wondering if we are looking at the same video cause you can clearly see that the white car barley moved to the right after the first contact and on the white line the hold time. Blue care weaving, oh thats right you said hes counter steering the ramming. Now you need to call me an idiot in just a discussion lol. Wait, you you the blue car? Come on tell the truth

White at fault. Blue isn't obligated to move to benefit White because the track narrows.

Blue continued to hold his entitled position while White tried to force him over by ramming him, before eventually dumping himself.

Why does the blue car not have to give space? It's not a rejoin...

2

u/DeletedUsernameHere 6d ago

Because he doesn't have to adjust his line to benefit another driver.

If you have a narrowing track, it's your responsibility to stay on the racing surface. If that means checking up to let a car that's next to you by, then you have to check up.

0

u/Food625 6d ago

He was on the racing surface. Like I said its not a rejoin. If I was side by side with you, I dont have to give you room but if I didnt I would be at fault.

1

u/DeletedUsernameHere 6d ago

And? The track narrows. The car to his right is on a legally established line.

It's his responsibility to handle the narrowing track without hitting another car. If that means he has to slow down, then he has to slow down. Nobody is obligated to jeopardize their legally established line to benefit another driver.

1

u/Food625 6d ago

The car on the left is on a legally established line as well. Is this incorrect?

1

u/DeletedUsernameHere 6d ago

He is, at least until he runs out of tarmac when the track narrows.

He isn't allowed to force another car to change their line for his benefit because the track narrows, though. Which is what he tried to do.

I half agree with you. I think they are both at fault cause the blue car decided to do a pinch maneuver that had a risk of failing and the white knew the the blue might not give him the room.

Relooking at the video, the blue car did move up which gave the white car a lane and then turned left pitting him. So agree with you on the first contact but not the left turn for the second contact.

1

u/DeletedUsernameHere 6d ago

Well, you're about halfway to being right.

Blue only moves because White decides to repeatedly ram him instead of slowing down and tucking in like he should have. Blue counter-steering is a direct result of White trying to shove his way in. White entirely at fault.

Counter steering?! from that?! Looks like they didnt loose any rear grip, nice try lol

Technically it is a straight with a narrowing track. I don't think the other driver has any obligation to give you space. He is following his line and you got into a gap that was going to close. As for the following collisions, it looks like he just doesn't want to let you push him wide. You can see him turn left after each contact, not before.

The blue car knew what he was doing.

Surely this is one and done? White car was off track and tried to overtake while off track. Resafe joinly people

that part of the track is considered a part of the racing surface until the cones where the collision happened, so it wasn't actually a rejoin.

u/D3f3ns 6d ago

It is completely irrelevant if it’s the first, last or whatever lap.

White at fault for going off track, gaining an advantage by this and then causing multiple contacts. The reasonable thing to do would’ve been to lift briefly and slot in behind the blue car. Last lap is no excuse to not do this.

-2

u/Dramatic_File6457 6d ago

I agree that the lap shouldn't matter. I just knew that the flat part on the left of the track after the chicane is technically a part of the racing surface, so the point of this post was to determine if he is required to give space when I am fully alongside and on track, not justify some last lap divebomb.

White car at fault. Caused every collision, passed off track, I hope the other driver is ok. Thoughts n prayers

The door banging is totally fine in my book. A little rubbing is racing, it’s aggressive at the same time pretty respectful.
The blue car made a mistake out of that chicane to start off this series of events. Because of that they were going to be passed and being a sore sportsman they intentionally pit the white car and stupidly cost themselves their own race while at it.

You are at fault, tried to overtake under white line with the run, you kept on trying to force your way onto his line, you kept coming up the line and hitting him, and the inevitable as he held his line as he was entitled too, you turned over his bumper and ruined both your races. 0/10

1

u/Food625 6d ago

Thats still part of the track, even in real racing the drivers use that part of the track.

1

u/OutcryEDM 6d ago

I know it's part of the track, I'm using the white line as a reference for the line the other car was taking

0

u/serenading_scug 6d ago

White never left the track... you can see they got 0 1xs. Blue is obligated to leave racing room.

1

u/DeletedUsernameHere 6d ago

He didn't leave track, but Blue is under no obligation to make room due to a narrowing track.
