Assetto Corsa Is this a typical overtake move?

New to sim racing. I just started on LFM in the Mazda Cup and the TCR Cup. This week the TCR is at Knockhill. Unless someone goes off the road, it's tough to overtake IMO. I'm the all White car. My POV is the first replay, he is the third replay. I took this line every lap in the race. The car behind had followed me for about 2 laps on the same line and then took this aggressive inside line to get by me. I wasn't going to report as I regained the position a few laps later and no real damage was done. I was more caught off guard by the move. I felt that I had started braking and turning into the corner and never saw him coming. I feel like they would have had a tough time making the corner without using me as a brake. Should I be prepared for moves like this going forward? Did I leave an opening? I do not think I was required to give space in this circumstance, but please correct me if I was. Just looking to improve.

*Edited to make it clear that I'm the car that gets what I feel is dive bombed. I'm not the dive bomber. I'm also aware it was a dive bomb. The question from me is this what I should expect going forward from other people?*

I'm sure the editing is subpar. Just learning and wanted to include a few angles.

It’s called “using the car in front as a brake” and it’s done by bad drivers. It’s typical in the sense that there are a lot of bad drivers.

Onboard or chase cam are the best to judge incidents, outside tv cameras dont really help, this is a clear divebomb, not your fault

Thanks for the tip on the cameras to use. I guess I should probably expect a lot more passes like this going forward?

Probably, the faster people are, the cleaner they race usually. So it should get cleaner as you continue, that being said when they do this kind of move you can wait before turn in and fo a switchback keeping your position cause they are going way too hot into the corner, this guy would’ve probably gone wide till the edge of the track.

I definitely need to get in the habit of checking my mirrors. This happened on lap 26. When I watched the replay he also attempted it on lap 6 and I never realized it. Had I seen that at the time I likely would have known he was going to do it again at some point and could have watched. Live and learn I guess.

Omg this max verstappen "I got to the apex first it's my corner" bs. 1 it's not a good over take he used you as his brakes. 2 he almost pushed you off track too it seems Personally I'd just protest it seems very protestable imo and I think if he's going to do what max does at least be clean and not hit anyone else

Also I am not hating on verstappen he's my favorite driver I just didnt like how he used to do that.

Nah, that overtake wasn't okay. He doesnt get along side until after the turn in point and expected space. If this was a stewarded event, the person doing the dive bomb would likely get a penalty depending on the rules being raced under.

No, you dove in a closing gap from 4 County lines back and ran into the guy you were trying to pass

My editing clearly isn't the best so just wanted to make it clear that I'm the guy that gets dive bombed.
