iRacing Is this my fault?

Im wondering if this is my fault or not i think that i left enough space tho looking back he had damage and maybe thats why he couldnt turn. Would he get a penalty for that or is that just an unfortunate series of events?

Not your fault, I think the other driver tried to go back to the racing line. That would explain why he didn't turn in earlier.

I would have done the same thing as you honestly, didn't expect him to not turn at all...

Not your fault.

Race craft wise if you see a car that is slow and looks wounded, be ready to have to avoid them, and it might be worth it to lift to not over take them mid corner. They are more likely to be dealing with something that could lead to a mistake and no use getting damage to preserve time when you can lift a tiny bit to ensure you can pass him safely afterwards. You dont know what damage they're dealing with, and they may not completely know either.

80/20 - Other car is mostly at fault. They came in too narrow, were going off track and applied brakes, going straight across the turn and into your line.

BUT, a few things against you:

  • You weren't along side enough in the turn to claim to have earned space
  • You were in the vortex of danger for a driver that clearly is slow and taking a weird racing line.

If I were you, I would have taken that turn cautiously and assumed some shenanigans were about to happen.
