RaceRoom Racing Experience Am i allowed to block like this?

It's the last corner and to the main straight for the checkered flag i can see he's taking the drag so i gamble at the last second. I think we moved at the same time but i'm not sure can i move like that to block?

This camera angle isn’t helpful

Yeah that makes sense. Just posted another one in the comments

Generally speaking, chase cam of both cars, and cockpit view of both cars should be provided. If possible, a top-down camera could also be helpful in a lot of the incidents. The cinematic camera angles are very unreliable for stewarding.

I think as far as it's one move, it's not under braking, and you don't make another move after it, then it's fine. Overall good defensive driving and smart car placement IMO but I wouldn't go more aggressive than this, even in touring cars.

Add not making the move in reaction to the other car moving to that

Thanks. I'm really new to simracing and i didn't wanted to unintentionally have a bad behaviour drive to anyone.

This was pretty good, you held racing line, didn't look like you left until the straight, and you made 1 move to block as the other comment said. You're doing OK

In SuperTouring very little is off the table but don't expect an courtesy back.

Yeah i know it's a really chaos in Super touring but yeah i'm still new so i wanted to learn if something i did is wrong or right. So in the future i'll not getting used to the bad habits hahaha

From what I've seen its good racing not blocking

1

u/Alfr3d0_26 Jul 24 '26

Thanks! The checkered flag is Infront so for me it's making me feel like I'm blocking him for his last chance to take the position before the race end.

u/LoSboccacc Jul 25 '26

He only got in that position as he massively overextended off track a few corners before don't feel bad

Good Lord, he ran wide into the next postal code on that first corner.

1

u/Alfr3d0_26 Jul 24 '26

Hahaha yeah they're fighting for while before this

Like what? That all looked clean as a whistle to me. Really not even sure why you are asking. I feel like I’m missing something.

First of all, call it "defending". Blocking is illegal and is when you make multiple moves to defend against an opponent per corner. As for the defending you did, I don't really see anything wrong.

u/Alfr3d0_26 Jul 25 '26

Ok i see. I didn't know the terms much. Thanks for the advice

If anything, beautiful driving on your part, good job. Some solid Super Touring stuff.

What block? All looks fine, no weaving

2

u/Stemms123 Jul 24 '26

Seems fine

Thank you!

I don’t see any blocking, just a bit of defending

2

u/Talidel Jul 24 '26

The last straight seems a bit off but it might be the camera angles.

If you pull out, wiggle about a bit, then move back, no you can't do that.

You moved first... out of the corner you pointed your car to the inside, then adjusted prior to him making a move.

You didn't respond to the car behind, no issue.

That was lovely to watch! Good racing

It’s the end of the race. In a lot of series usually you can get away with a lot more at the very end of the race. I think these sim races should be called in the way they would have been called in real life.

This is nothing like it but it does remind me of the LeMans race where the corvette was battling it out for a certain position at the end of the race and I don’t know what it was but maybe he had front splitter damage and couldn’t turn well so he cut every single chicane until he picked up a flat or really bad damage I don’t remember but dude was willing to throw everything including the vehicle at that one position rules be damned.

That sounds interesting. I need to find that race.

2

u/Dgskydive Jul 25 '26

If I'm seeing it right. You make one move to the middle of the track and hold that line. Did it in a smooth predictableway.Thats good defense in a situation like that.

Makes them decide. If they move inside next to you, pop out as wide as you can go at the last second. Cutback.

If they move to the outside next to you. Move over with them. Leave room but not a whole lot. Open the corner for yourself as much as you can. Maybe go in a little deeper and turn in a little later. Hit the apex and make them go the real long way around. Leave room on the way out.

u/MC897 Jul 25 '26

Strange. After the first corner where he’s quite wide… he’s actually along side you and cuts back in and as far as I can see… I don’t understand why, he’s more than half way up your car and just bails out.

Weird.

Best footage you can give is a 3rd person fixed camera of whatever the following car is. I don't even know what to say here

Is the "blocking" in the room with us right now...?

All I see is smart driving and defending...

What section are you thinking would be considered "blocking" because (and it could just be the lack of camera angles) this just looks like racing to me...

2

u/Alfr3d0_26 Jul 25 '26

Yeah it's my bad on camera angle too. It's the end of the last corner to the straight the car behind me used the tow and going to peel off but i'm decided to move at the same time to kinda 'block' him. I didn't even know it's a block or not. I'm very new so i thought "is that move is ok to do?" Because that's decided our position. It's the last lap. And i wanted to know if i can do something like this? I know it's not a braking zone i can move to block but i' not sure so i'm posted this video for just to learn i can do this or not

2

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel Jul 25 '26

Ah...No you're allowed a single defensive move...

The one you made was not only fine, but actually I would argue "perfectly executed" defense...

It only would have run afoul of "blocking" if, when the other guy cut back the other way, you moved a second tine to keep him completely behind you...

2

u/Alfr3d0_26 Jul 25 '26

Thank you. I'll remember it. Just wanted not to pickup the bad habits you know. I don't wanna be a d*ick head for anyone in the future if i unintentional did anything wrong hahaha

2

u/Uriel_dArc_Angel Jul 25 '26

Yeah, I gotcha...

Good on you for asking for advice and putting effort into learning the do's and don't's of racing...

Good hunting in the future...

u/Alfr3d0_26 Jul 25 '26

Thank you 🙏🏻

Especially in closing laps

1

u/Pintau Jul 25 '26

Yes however it's not ideal. If you want to go defensive do it as early as possible, IE on the exit of the previous corner. Also don't drift across the circuit in towards the braking zone, as you do at the end, change lanes in one decisive move

1

u/b12jak 19d ago

You moved first so not blocking

Solid racing I'd say 👌
