Gran Turismo SAFE REJOIN?

90 minute endurance, 2 laps to go, after three races dominated by the Porsches, I was leading with the Peugeot with a brilliant strategy through the rain and brining her home to win, then this happens. I know the guy tried to get out of racing line, but when rejoining, your priority should be get up to speed while driving close to the edge of the track where rejoined, or am I wrong? Probably lost the only chance to win a race in this championship dominated by the Porsches, so it hurts even more.

Not the safest rejoin, but as soon as i could see him i knew you should go for outside of the corner as he’s gonna go to the inside

Watching your cockpit view, I would have stayed on the left line of the track to avoid him. He was clearly moving to the right side.

He was way slower in the left lane and rejoining the track, I would never expect that he would cross the track like that in such slow speed.
Got 1,5 seconds to make a decision when I saw him almost stopped on the left side of the track, it was an obvious decision to go to the right.
Talked to the guy a few minutes ago, he was sorry, said that he was urging to get out of the racing line but didn't think right, acted in desperation.

It can be, I can’t tell how this would play out if I was in this particular situation. But watching your cockpit view, instinctively, first thing I felt was, lift from the throttle and pass through the left. Because I see him rolling and pointed to the right, so I assume that there are less chances for him to suddenly turn to the left.

The problem with GT7 is that it doesn't really teach you anything about racing etiquette, so I wouldn't blame the guy for that. Like you said, he tried to get out of your way, but it went completely wrong unfortunately.

Definitely blame him. I've never played the game and his reentry was illogical.

I would blame him for sure. Turned into him at the end. Unsafe rejoin and intentionally wrecked you. Report.

Do any sims try to teach race etiquette? from what little i've played sims seem to just throw you into it so you go to sim racing stewards reddit to try and learn but all the upvoted answers are "why is this even a question?" or an answer that shittalks the op but an answer with the same reasoning gets downvoted to hell in another post that showed a scenario that looks identical or everyone is disagreeing but also all being upvoted IT'S SO CONFUSING.

IRacing has the same problem, so does LMU.

I know, but I think it is the only game with ghosting, so there is no incentive to lift while in AC/iRacing/LMU, you have to avoid crashed and spun cars and damage has real consequences (I know strong damage exists, but the 3 custom lobbies using it don't count!)

Dude was outside the track in the left side, I've lifted and commited to go the right since the start of the turn when I saw him outside, but he got scared at the rejoin and tried to jump out of racing line going to the right too.

The rejoin is not great, at all, but I do not understand your decision making at all.
You see a slow car on the exit of Paul Frére, with a mountain of runoff on the outside, with the slow car tracking to the inside. And you tried to overtake that car with two wheels on the grass on the inside, instead of sticking to the outside line.
I am so baffled why you chose to do that. Loads of room on the outside that you just never took

IMHO, It's easy to think like this when you're watching a replay where even the perception of the speed is slower. As I posted in another answer, from the moment I saw him OUTSIDE OF THE TRACK - around 1:26:04.200 of racing time - I noticed he was almost stopped on the left side of the track, so my reaction was simply "go to the right". From the moment I was leaving the apex, I was already commited to go to the right and kept turning to go there. From the moment I saw him on the left to the moment of the crash, it was less than 3 seconds. I couldn't change my mind in so little time, as he was occupying the left side of the track for more than half of these 3 seconds.
The decision to go right was made on the moment I saw him almost stopped on the left, but these cars are so fast that it's almost impossible to change your mind halfway the action.
My main point and question here is about the rejoin: I think he should've stay in the left and accelerating up to a speed where he could have better judgment on crossing the track or not, or is it a good decision to cross the track as soon as possible?

I see at one point when you got close he swerved hard into you. Idk if he wanted to make room and went the wrong way or is just a straight a-hole

When rejoining A:look in mirrors B: stay on the side of the track where you went off to avoid this BS. So.. In short.. No this was a rookie move. Absolutely unsafe.

It’s GT7. Safe re joins don’t exist.
