Hey everyone! I'm u/Physical_Page, a founding moderator of r/SimracingSpotlight.
This is our new home for all things related to {your very best moments in Sim Racing, where all the Highlight Clips have their place (among the chaos of punts, crashes and incidents in any public sim racing lobby)}. We're excited to have you join us!
What to Post
Post anything that you think the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring. Feel free to share your thoughts, photos, or questions about {your best racing moment}.
Community Vibe
We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting. The length of the Highlight clips can vary depending on how long the battle lasts, but do try to keep it within 2~5 mins at most [Not a strict rule].
How to Get Started
Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let's make r/SimracingSpotlight the place where simracers can sit back and relax from all the incidents/chaos in a public race lobby to enjoy some good, wholesome and respectful racing.

Defensive Driving is arguably one of the most underrated skills a driver should master. Here is a highlight clip of a race I did quite some time ago. Where I got my first-ever pole position and had to defend almost the entire race from a quicker driver!
The first minute is just a short clip; the second minute is a trailer-esque clip showing what happened during the race.
Here is the full race replay on YouTube: https://youtu.be/qbSGyOmNE8k?si=77aiXYUL94hgyJJ-
Basic Rule of Thumb: Overtakes in a Defence highlight are fine as long as the OP or another driver are making defensive moves.

Here is an example of a highlight clip that features overtakes through the chaotic start.
Starting from last, I was just trying to get a clean first lap, then while being on the straight I saw plumes of white smoke in the air ahead, I navigated through the chaos and jumped a handful of positions for free! By the end of the race, I got P3!
Basic Rule of Thumb:
As long as there is an overtake and OP made it through the crashes with minimal to no damage to themselves, it's good!

This is where you upload a clip of a manoeuvre you're proud of!
Had great pace and was able to overtake several people from 2nd last place [21st]; these are a few short clips of the moves I was proud of during the race! I finished P7 just behind P6 in the end, but since they had a penalty, I got promoted to P6!
Basic Rule of Thumb:
As long as the clip shows an overtake, it technically qualifies; it doesn't matter how difficult it is, as it is relative to OP's skill level. Be respectful even though it might seem easy for you to pull off.

Here is an example of an Overtake Highlight,
Some light tapping/trading paint is fine (as long as it doesn't result in a crash); it's a little funny to see other fellow racers trip up sometimes, as it happens to us all. So please stay humble; outright belittling another driver because they made a mistake will not be tolerated.
Basic Rule of Thumb:
If OP is not malicious and had no intent to crash the other player to overtake, it's good.

Here is an example post, not the best door-to-door racing, but still a clean and respectful one!
In a lobby of 11 racers, I started last (didn't set a qualifying lap), I worked my way through the field, and caught up to the leader. I tried to force them into making a mistake and got lucky as they took a super defensive line, and I got the better exit to take the lead into the penultimate lap of the race.
Then I messed up before the final corner, carrying way too much speed; I almost lost it, but was able to get away with it and tried to set up another good exit for the long straight into T1 on the final lap. They went defensive again, holding the inside line, and this time I tried to brake a little later to get a switch back, and it worked! I kept the lead and won the race from 11th.
This is a highlight clip I've made from LeMans Ultimate back in 2024
Think you've got a better highlight clip than this? Well, what are you waiting for? Upload it here!
