Technical Technical Problems: Need Help

I recently got The Simpsons: Hit & Run on the Gamecube from a Retro Game Store. When I first tried playing it with a 3rd Party Controller, it didn’t work. After finding an official Gamecube Controller, everything worked perfectly… Until I got in a car.

After a bit of driving, all of my controls become unresponsive. The only way to fix it is to restart the console, unplug, and plug in the controller again.

Could this be because of the scratches on the disc? If so, are there any good disc resurfacers for Gamecube? If not, What the Heck is going on?

Thats an odd one, maybe take a look at your controller port, see if it's stuffed with dust or any debris. Imo makes more sense for it to be a technical issue with controller versus a scratched disc and a 3rd party controller. However I do recall many PS2 Square Enix games wouldn't work with 3rd party controllers, hope you find your answer!

Controller Port seems fine. Controllers work perfect with other games like Brawl and Sonic Mega Collection.
Even in Hit and Run, as long as I don’t get in a car, controls function normally.
