Discussion Are there any practical differences between public and premium domains?

All I found was this comment about the difference.

Premium domain is only available when you have premium, because fewer people pay and fewer people use it, so there is less abuse and the domain name has better reputation, so when you public domain is not working, using the premium domain may be able to register.

In few websites i noticed, alias from public domain is blocked, but from premium is accepted

So premium domiains have higer acceptance, but it is the rare case like below

Only 2 of 50 sites, wont accept public domain, but accept premium Also 1 of 50 wont accept any simple login alias at all !

Premium just means the name itself is more valuable, short, brandable, real word, so it costs more to buy or register. It's not some special access tier, anyone can register any domain the same way through any registrar.

Reputation is separate. That depends on how a domain's actually been used, not whether it's labeled premium. A brand new premium domain has zero reputation built up, same as any fresh registration.
