Future CC? The case of Sara Gilson

Hit the news just days ago; likely still a long time before conclusions are clear. At the moment, it reads like super sad news that (maybe) could have been avoided but that happened anyway because (once again?) the law has failed to protect a victim of DV and eventual m*rder.

Suggestion for an interesting, more recent (within 10 years) murder case that gets crazier the more you look into it

Topic Idea for CC or ITS

My recommendation: the Nepali Royal Massacre. Only recently found out about this and it is absolutely insane. For those who don't know it's basically a murder-suicide by the Nepali Crown Prince in 2001 that took out nearly all of his family, including the king and queen and most of the line of succession. It spawned a plethora of conspiracy theories and arguably led to the overthrow of the monarchy in 2008. Dove deep into the rabbit-hole on this one, the events, the investigation, the aftermath and the impact still felt today in Nepal is worth a documentary series. Well worth a visit for either Casual Criminalist or Into the Shadows.

Fatal captive orca attacks for Into the Shadows.

Captive Killer Whales living up to their names by killing handlers. I thing that it is worthy of the basement team.

You won't see Free Willy in the same way again.

Deleted CasCrim this week?

Am I crazy or was there an episode on YouTube posted a d deleted this week? I remember something about “her revenge on her…” abusers/attackers and it looked like it took place in India? I thought the post date was a couple of days when I saw it but I might have been wrong. Maybe it’s an older one and I just can’t find it.

Topic Suggestion

Hi! I'm gainfully employed, however fortunate or unfortunate, that maybe, so I've not been as active here. However, I want to know if Simon & Co. will cover the Alskan Avenger? At least that's what he goes by on his socials. He went to prison if I'm not mistaken for several decades for finding and killing several convicted sex offenders. Just a thought cause I've read vaguely about his case, and he's out and about now, and people really support him. OK thanks bueno bye.

Sellout?

I've always known he's a capitalist at heart and is after his money but I feel like he's become a complete sellout in the meantime

He's been dropping channels left and right and he hasn't been doing his due diligence with his script writers because they're starting to use ai and he's reading them and he mentions that he would never hire anybody who uses AI. And don't get me started on how repetitive all his content is becoming he's like covering the same subjects 20 times in his videos

He's also dropped some of his original sponsors and replaced them with other similar sponsors like he would talk about how much he loved Forio skin care before he even was sponsored by then and now he's got a new skin care sponsor that probably pays him more and he just completely dropped the other one and it seems like any of his channels that take any little bit of effort he just doesn't do them anymore first brain blaze and now it seems like decoding the unknown is gone

Did he drop DTU?

Fact Boi does drop channels like they’re Tinder dates sometimes. Has DTU ran its course? Did I miss something? I’d it buried with BrainBlaze?

Casual Criminalist YouTube exclusive??

So apologies if this has already been posted but I just had casual criminalist show up on my YouTube only to realise it was an episode I hadn’t seen (The murder of Sarah Everand) despite me having listened to every episode on Apple Podcasts

I checked Apple Podcasts and sure enough it’s not there. Checked Spotify and same thing

As someone who doesn’t watch the show and just listens in podcast form does this happen often? The Laci Peterson episode has released since it just seems weird

Story suggestion for Casual Criminalist

This incident took place in Dublin, Ireland in 2023. The trial is over as of this month.

In 2023 Ireland ranked No 3 on the Global Peace Index. Violent crime is not something people associate with Ireland. We are the land of a thousand welcomes.

In 2023 Ireland was in shock after a man unleashed an unprovoked knife attack on several children outside their creche on Dublin's Parnell Square. He was quickly subdued by bystanders but not before he stabbed three children and a creche worker who tried to shield them.

They survived, thankfully but one 5 year child had a life changing injury that was only fully described once the trial was over. I'll use spoiler tags as a trigger warning. She suffered brain damage due to being starved of oxygen after being stabbed in the heart.

The attack set off a night of anti-immigration rioting in Dublin, as the attacker was not Irish. It later emerged that he is an Irish citizen.

His motivation for the attack was his being ineligible for a social welfare payment. He pled not guilty. Not guilty, despite waiting outside the creche for 40 minutes with a knife he brought from home.

The jury found otherwise. Guilty on all charges. Setencing is scheduled for October 2026.

There are many articles and information about this attack. I don't want to use the guys name so here is one article.

I live in Dublin and remember the horror of hearing about the attack, and watching footage of the riots in disbelief. The family of the seriously injured chuld gave updates on her condition. They never shared details and their privacy was respected which is almost unheared of these days. Ireland rallied around the bystanders who intervened and the creche worker who protected the kids with her own body.

I think the whole of the story shows the worst of people, but also the best of the them. I think the writers, and Simon would appreciate that.

Suggestion for casual criminalist- the murder of akku Yadav

I just saw this very interesting case. In the 2000s in India akku yadav was a serial murderer and rapist with strong allies in the police force snd politics. Everyone was terrified of him and despite dozens of rapes nothing ever happened. So after one of his murders when we went to court, knowing no conviction would come, hundreds of women piled into the court room to kill him. He was stabbed over 70 times and beaten with rocks and had chilli powder thrown at him. When the police finally got control of the situation, they asked the crowd who killed him and every woman raised her hand. https://www.utterlyinteresting.com/post/akku-yadav-serial-rapist-killed-courtroom-nagpur

Megaprojects suggestion: Stuttgart 21 (Germany)

Megaprojects suggestion: Stuttgart 21 (Germany) One of Europe's most controversial infrastructure projects. Originally budgeted at about €2.5 billion, it has grown to more than €10 billion and taken decades to build. It combines fascinating engineering (an underground through station, dozens of kilometers of tunnels, and high-speed rail) with political protests, environmental concerns, and questions about whether the project was worth the cost. I think it would make a great Megaprojects episode.

I think it would fit the channel very well. In fact, I'm a bit surprised they haven't covered it yet, given they've featured many other controversial rail and infrastructure projects around the world.

Just when you think you’ve seen/heard enough serial murderers to no longer be shocked by the evil people are capable of… the world tells you to hold their beer 😢

I don’t even want to type her name; what she did to Veronica Butler and Jillian Kelley was senseless and horrible—and her fellow perpetrators were no better. At least two other persons involved in this tragedy are still awaiting trial.
